Savings Account in Joint Names
Hi, I have a joint savings account with my wife. I am a 20% taxpayer with all income from pension drawdown. My wife is a non-taxpayer, and drawdowns £12k per year from her SIPP. I am trying to understand how this works with HMRC as I believe that I can receive up to a £1000 per year in savings interest tax free. My wife as…

Oil prices & likely inflation - should fixed rates be avoided?
Just wondering about this. Seems likely that the inflation will rise more than expected this year due to the oil/Iran situation. Just wondering if fixing an ISA at say 4.5% may turn out to be a bad move? What are people's thoughts?

Bit of help would be great.
Hello, I’m 40 years old and would like some advice on whether I’m doing things right or wrong. I have a mortgage and a workplace pension, which I currently contribute 7% to, with my employer contributing up to 5%. I’m planning to increase my contribution to 10%. I also have £18,000 in a Prosper ISA and no other debt apart…

Savings accounts for RTM sinking fund
I am a director of a Right To Manage leasehold company for a block of 20 residential flats running for well over 10 years now. Over those years we have built up our sinking fund and now want to invest some of that money...any advice where and how we can invest it? It seems it has to be invested in a linked trust account.

Regular savers or ISA
I'm getting fed up of exceeding my savings interest allowance. I earned £1432 in interest this last year due to instant savings account (for misc. spending e.g. holidays, un planned large items spending.) and 8 regular savings accounts. OK it's just £86 of interest but it's annoying having to pay that in arrears. So, just…

Aldermore are often mentioned on here as a savings provider ( and I have some money with them),but their owners are selling them due to problems in the motor finance area. Trading212 - New Customer Deals
Hello! Based on the deals listed in the MSE newsletter I'm considering getting a Trading212 account. However, I'm not sure if I can make use of each deal. Moving Shares from GIA to S&S ISA
Hi all – I have shares in an old employer, which were bought on a monthly basis through an Employee share scheme. Often my purchase was fractional share amounts. I see little point of having REITS if I already invest in global index
Rookie investor here so bear with me. When it comes to investing I prefer to keep things simple and passive. What chance have I got of beating the market if even the odds are against the "professionals" beating the market? For my equities I investing in the Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap. Equities make up the majority of my…

First Direct Regular Saver
Can anyone tell me how long it takes to transfer the first payment into the First Direct Regular Saver? I have one about to mature and vaguely recall it took five working days from the date I applied for the account until I could transfer my first payment (or, at least, until the first payment updated in the account.) I…

17 year oil’s savings account
I set up a child’s account in their name with Halifax. When she turned 16 it was moved to regular savings account. Will it be taxed? I can still see it on my online backing, as I can see their younger sibling’s child account. Halifax should know her age. I’d hate for her to lose money if I could have avoided it.
