With tax on savings set to increase to 22% on 6th April 2027
Is it better to select monthly interest option if available rather than annual on any savings accounts that otherwise pay the interest next year? Then pay 20% on interest received this tax year and 22% next?

Being nosey... How many Regular Saver accounts do you have?
For ease of finding the RS League Table that Bobblehat compiles, I've added it to this 1st post. The updates will appear here periodically rather than embedded in the thread and a post will be made to the latest page to announce an update. Please send your data as usual and it will appear in the next update when it's…

Joint Savings Account for Inheritance
My 3 adult children have just received money from my mother’s estate and while the 2 eldest are sensible with their money and have mortgages, our 22year old son isn’t. He has agreed to me managing this money for him, but not sure the best way to do it. Would prefer it is in his name as it is his money - would a joint…

The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…

Impax Environmental Markets Investment Trust
I would welcome any thoughts on what action I should take on the proposed tendering of shares in Impax Environmental Markets IT in order to thwart a takeover by activist investor Saba. There appears to be a chance to profit from a NAV discount of around 7% by accepting the tender offer. Does it matter which way I vote?

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top Easy Access discussion' thread. The aim is to maintain an easy-to-find ranked list of the c.Top 10, available to open & manage online, Easy Access accounts, with links. The purpose of this thread is…

Woodford compensation and No Win No Fee fees
I joined the class action with Harcus Parker for redress from the Woodford catastrophe which to cut a long story short was not heard in court and instead redress was made via FCA. I received the compensation which was a small fraction of what was lost and was very surprised to receive a bill from Harcus Parker for almost…

Can you not open a second sole 1-Year Fixed Saver with Marcus?
Does Marcus UK block customers from opening a second 1 Year Fixed Rate Saver in their own name? The official PDF terms and conditions state that the £250,000 limit is "per account," which makes it sound like you can open multiple single-name accounts to ladder your savings. However, when going through the actual…

I’m trying to decide whether to stay with Trading 212 Cash ISA for the 2026/27 tax year or switch to Plum for the higher interest rate and new customer bonus. A bit of context: • First time using a Cash ISA last tax year • Opened and paid into a Trading 212 Cash ISA • Got the first-time/new customer bonus there which was…

Spring saver 4.3 AER
Hi all, I am looking at the account above and I see the max balance is 20k. I cant find anyway to contact them to ask, but I was wondering,.suppose you lodge 20k into the account and because interest is compounded - the balance goes over 20k at first month's payment. Is this permitted so the excess balance (which i assume…

My S&S diary - investing from February 2026
After sitting to learn about investing into the stock market, I finally jumped in. The 6th of February 2026. I am writing the diary for myself to remember the journey. I could see that I, probably the same as others, tend to only feel comfortable to tell others about what we do, when we are doing fine with S&S, and choose…
