Deprivation of Assets ?
Hello - I'm thinking of Will making and if there are any implications for a local Council considering it as 'deprivation of assets' if we do not leave all (non property) assets to the surviving spouse? e.g. if my wife and I both have Wills made so that (instead of all assets going to the surviving spouse) that cash and…

Can I post Attendance Allowance form to a REAL address?
Hi, In December my mum filled out the Attendance Allowance form and posted it off. She had wanted to send Special Delivery but the post office said she could not do so, as it was a freepost address. Fast forward to now and she's heard nothing so called up last week. Was told they haven't received it, which means she now…

Motability vs buying vehicle outright?
I am toying with the idea of a new car and am attempting to weigh
up the pro’s/cons of going down the Motability route versus simply buying
outright. Although I have been eligible for years, I have never used (nor even really
looked into) the Motability scheme. I have always bought outright and paid for my
adaptions. I…

How do DWP know how much savings i have?
Hi, I receive ESA and PIP. I understand that my savings cannot go over £6000 but what if by accident they go a couple of hundred pounds over for a few days, for example when a bill is due? Would DWP know? I really don't want to get anything wrong. Do they randomly audit people or rely on honesty? Many thanks. 😊

Care cost questions after TBI accident.
My 75-year-old father, who was very fit and healthy, lives at home with his 68-year-old wife. In June 2023, he fell from a ladder, sustaining a serious brain injury. Though he was discharged after three months in the hospital and could perform basic tasks (walk, eat, dress, wash etc), he was noticeably different. His…

Hi. I was wondering if someone could help me. My goddaughter has been received DLA for roughly 3 years. We had a phone call today saying that they sent paperwork out in October of last year, which we never received, and because it was not filled out and no contact had been made, the claim has been closed and we need to now…

Continuing healthcare, personal health budget: help finding out all the costing/financial informatio
I previously requested to have more control of who cares for me, and I was advised about direct payments so that I can select rather than have an agency who don't follow my requests or complaints I've changed agency in the past, but realise this is not sustainable compared to picking vetted carers myself But as with direct…

Money Moral Dilemma: Should I get a Disabled Person's Railcard when my condition doesn't affect me?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... I qualify for a Disabled Person's Railcard to get 1/3 off rail fares as I have epilepsy. Yet I've not had a fit for over a decade and it doesn't affect my life, apart from having to renew my driving licence every three years. I feel somehow I don't deserve the railcard…

I ask because my 95 year old Mum had a fall in her home and it took 8 hrs for an NHS ambulance to take her to A&E, with her on the floor. Sadly this seems common. I Would pay for…

PIP 50% car tax reduction again!
It is time for OH to tax his car again and I just wondered if there has been any change in the way the 50% can be claimed. For the past two years, due to so many DVLA staff working from home, we have paid the car tax in full and then applied for a 50% refund, which has taken quite a while to process. Has anyone applied…

Do councils have a deadline to relocate elderly people in nursing homes?
I'm currently trying to help my 80 year old mother relocate close to family since her husband died and she's left alone where she is without visitors. We've approached the council to have her relocated and a face to face meet went very well. But for the past two weeks we haven't been able to even contact our social worker…

Getting COVID test records
Has anyone had any luck getting their COVID test records? During the pandemic I submitted dozens of tests, as I was testing weekly for most of it. A few were logged by my employer who has provided them, and I have email receipts for some. Test & Trace seems to have disappeared though. Anyone know how to contact them to get…
