PIP ESA and carers element

Hi All,

I am on PIP, enhanced for both elements and CB ESA, limited capability for work. My brother looks after me and has been advised to claim the carers element of UC, but we can't find out if it will impact my PIP or contribution based ESA Can anyone help?

No it won't affect anything of your claims.

To elaborate: in the past with income-based ESA there was a component that depended on nobody claiming for caring for the claimant, but that does not exist as income-based ESA no longer exists.

As @Spoonie_Turtle says it won’t affect your current claims.

For others that are reading this. Even if a person is claiming UC with TP after moving from Income Related ESA someone claiming either carers element or carers allowance for looking after them, the TP would not be affected. (unless it's a partner they are living with)

I transferred from Income Related ESA that included the SDP so my UC includes TP. Someone could claim CE or CA for looking after me and my TP wouldn't be affected. It's only affected in the first month after transferring across.

    No that makes no difference.

The answer is still no impact on your claims 🙂
