Hi all just a quick question for those of you who have opened an ISA with IF recently - I applied online a few weeks ago and recieved a letter in the mail asking me to sign and send them proof of my identity. While reading what they accept as proof of identity I noticed this: "All documents must be original or certified as…

Cash ISAs vs Fixed Rate Bonds: Which to go with for savings?
Hello, I'd be grateful for advice. I currently have 2 ISAs from previous years totalling £7200. I haven't opened an ISA for this year. Ideally, I'd want to transfer in these previous years' amounts in addition to the full allowance for this year. I also have an additional £6000 I want to save somewhere. My question is…

Opening first ISA, need advice and opinions

Starting from October I've got around £600 per month to put into savings. This works out nicely to £3,600 before April 2010.…

A+L tracker ISA increased fees
Having a day of sorting out my finances..... Item 2, my ISA trackers..... Got a letter through from Legal and General this week about an "increase" in blah blah fees which has taken my TER (total expense ratio) up to about 0.84% on average. I believe the Fidelity moneybuilder trackers have a lower expense ratio. As I think…

ISA question
I opened a Cash ISA with HBOS in March 2009 with the max £3600 and got 3%. I have not done anything since then. The current best rate appears to be 2.75%. Questions - Is there a ‘best time’ to open a Cash ISA during the tax year to get the optimum rate? Is it advantageous to wait for better offers or just get on with it?!…

I missed out on the First Direct Regular Saver ISA
Hello people, I'm looking to save some money monthly and I saw that the First Direct Regular Saver ISA had an interest rate of 7% and looked like the best available. Unfortunately, First Direct insist that a First Direct current account is required in order to open one of these. By the time the current account opening…

First ISA
I am thinking of starting my first ISA having just become morgage free thanks to this web site. But I have some questions, as I will probably need some of the money I put in the ISA next summer. 1. Is it worth starting an ISA for one year. 2. If I am taking cash out of this years ISA, would I be able to put the full amount…

What's the point of S&S ISA? ....
... My OH has built up over the years stocks & shares ISA containing various funds. She is a standard rate tax payer and unlikely ever to be higher. So what is the benefit of ISA? OK, no capital gains, but it isnt a big enough pot for this to be an issue. Is there any other benefit ?
