please advise , for a non tax payer pensioner , what is the best isa , or is tax free savings better ?

Assuming you don't pay tax and won't be any time soon, then it's best to go for the highest rate you can find, whether it's an ISA or not.

At the moment there are better rates on savings accounts than ISA's so you're better off with a savings account.. hth
