Recommendation for two-part masonry paint?
I used epoxy masonry paint a good decade or more ago on a block wall at a yoof club. It is still, quite literally, as good as new, has no mould, and has never been cleaned. Is this typical? If so, I wanna it for my own house. Any recommendations? Ta. (I can't recall what the stuff I used was - we were given it by a local…

Old MR16 bulb exploding glass.
The bulbs in my downstairs toilet must be 15+ years old. Switched them on and after only a minute there was an almighty bang and 2 of the 3 stopped working. Tiny bits of glass everywhere. The 3rd one is still working, so I’m guessing the circuit is fine, but would anyone know why this happened. I would have thought there…

Washing Trainers
Hello all, I hope the hive mind of the forum can advise about whether I can wash my trainers and they'll remain useable afterwards. My normal trainers for just non-event running (Nike Pegasus 40) are smelly. It all began when I did a waterlogged ParkRun 7th February - this is one of the drier parts of the course that day:…

We rent it out, and this is how we pay for the upkeep/decoration and modernisation, it is a registered charity.…

Heat Pump Tumble Drier - air/heat output
I currently have a 15 year old Miele condenser tumble drier. The hot air output is low down on the front. This was not previously a problem on our tiled floor, but has caused the vinyl in our new kitchen to lift. (The floor temperature measures 35⁰C…). Can anybody who has a newish heat pump tumble drier tell me: Is the…

Dispute with IKEA about kitchen panel defect
Hi, Hoping for some advice. The side panel on the end of the wall cupboards has started to crack and bubble at the lower edge. Ikea have said its wear and tear and they won’t cover it under the 25 year guarantee. We spent around £10k and had the kitchen designed and installed from start to finish by Ikea, in September 2024…

Water ingress on bay
The bay in my child's bedroom (upstairs) has started to leak. The window was replaced as few years back, and the house has also been re-rendered, again a few years back. Radiator TRV leak
Can I get some advice regarding a leaky TRV. The water is seeping up from the pin rather than the gland nut so not sure if there's anything I can do to fix it. Generally happens if I set the TRV to anything below 5 but if I leave it at maximum the leak will eventually go away. I've tried tightening the gland nut but this…
