Is this Quote High for Internal Doors?

I would like 5 Deante Ely Black internal doors (one of them a fire rated) in black colour supplied and fitted from a door fitting company.

They have quoted me £340 per door including parts and fitting and £430 for the firedoor.

When I search for this door online it comes up at £150 range not including delivery.

It has been a while since I had internal doors fitted so probably gone up a lot since.

I got doors fitted recently - £165 labour per door. I supplied handles and hinges.

Don't forget a chunk of that cost is likely £60 plus on top if this is a vat registered company, I would get a private chippy to give a quote without vat to save on cost.

On that basis £340 per door seems cheap. Decent ironmongery and hinges, plus delivery to add to the figure quoted for labour…..

Source your own door iron mongery as a comparison against the firm you looked at and then see if there is a handy man/woman/person near to you and get a price from them and see how it compares.

There is more to fitting doors than meets the eye, it's likely the new door will need to be trimmed/adjusted as not all door frames are plumb. This is one job I personally I would use an actual carpenter.

I'm in the SE and paid £1010 inc VAT for supply and fit of four solid core doors from Howdens, all hardware inc one bathroom privacy lock two years ago. That did not include disposal of old doors. This was using a self employed carpenter.

If you have carpet flooring and thinking of replacing in the near future with "thicker" carpet let the fitter know as they may need to trim a bit more off the bottom

My parents replaced all of their doors in their 1970s house - used a carpenter or similar. Each door had to be trimmed to fit … it took up to 2 days, if I remember rightly!
