Raisin awful onboarding/admin vs. Hargreaves Lansdown
Hiya, I'm a long-time user of MSE, but never signed up for forums before; signed up just now so that I can raise this question. Basically, for the last 3 weeks I've been trying to set up a Raisin account (mostly to take advantage of a £50 cashback which has now expired). At the same time, I was also looking at HL as they…

7% return on £700,000
We have to sell my father’s house to pay for his care home fees. Once sold we will have net £700,000. If we can invest the money and (net) 7% then that will pay the fees without eroding the capital. Who could take on such a mandate and what investment to generate that sort of yield?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for an easy-access savings account with no withdrawal limits. I was with coventry building society, but have been stung after withdrawing more than 3 times, so I've closed the account down. Also I can't apply for Chase because I'm a former customer and they have a rule that old customers cannot…

I saw the & me sign-up bonus in the MSE email tonight - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/robo-funds/#deals Never heard of them before but £100 bonus for £500 invested for a year sounds like a reasonable way to take a punt and come out on top, but on clicking the provider link the site itself currently lists the…

Nationwide- Members exclusive bond 5.5% AER
Call me a cynic but surely this isnt quite what it seems to be? Member Exclusive Online Bond | Nationwide I'm no expert but they put up the headline rate of 5.5% AER then in the T&C it says its actually an 18month fix that you cannot access until the full term has run. So the next question is, if your maximum 10K is in the…

Redundancy money to invest
Hi folks. I'm trying a few avenues, this is just one, I've also reached out using Unbiased, who have put me in touch with a restricted FA. Anyway, here's the skinny. I'm in Scotland, and I'm in my 40s. I don't own any property. I was made redundant last year but quickly lined up a new, better-paid job. I now have the…

Does HMRC automatically claim tax on Savings?
Can someone just remind me - am I correct in thinking that if I have used multiple savings accounts in the tax year and I am going over the relevant tax free savings allowance for my marginal rate, HMRC will figure this out automatically and alter my tax coding the following year to collect the tax? In other words I don't…

Trustee Investment/Inheritance tax
We have just discovered an Investment that was supposed to be set up as a trust 3 and a half years ago was incorrectly set up in the sole names of the joint Investment holders. The investment company have said they have no paperwork to say it should have been a trust. It was set up to remove the funds from inheritance tax…
