When I purchase postage on the RM website I always untick the box that says "Show this address on the label" (the address being the sender's address). Does anyone know, when using ebay Simple Delivery whether you also have this option? I do not want my address visible on parcels I send out. I don't have a printer so will be using the QR option via a Post Office.

Is anyone able to assist with this please? Has anyone used Simple delivery yet, and know what information is displayed and what options sellers have in terms of which info displays?

I'm interested in this too, as I'm presently avoiding it like the plague! :D

However, I never send anything without a return address, what happens if item is refused or un delivered for any reason?  It probably doesn’t matter with SD as long as it shows as sent it’s eBay’s problem, but I have no issue with my return address being on parcels anyway.
Thank you. I assume under the current method, if it is undelivered then RM will still be able to access my details from the barcodes as I still give them my address when purchasing the postage, it just doesn't get printed on the label.

If you're using simple delivery YOU won't be purchasing the postage, ebay will. And if ebay is taking responsibility from the point you hand over the parcel to royal mail presumably any undelivered parcels should be returned to them?

Presumably the return address doesn't have to relate to the address where it entered the system, if I lived in Truro but decided to post a parcel while on a weekend away in Inverness I could drop it in at the local post office.
On eBay sellers don’t pay until item shows as delivered, so whilst eBay take responsibility ultimately if it can’t be delivered for any reason it needs to go back to the seller. As I believe eBay is following the Vinted method then this is how it works there, I’m waiting for one to get back to me now and when I get it back buyer will get a refund in full. In fact thinking about it, that might answer the question, if a pre printed label comes back to me on Vinted then my address is either on the label or is embedded in the label code somewhere. I have some to print shortly, so I’ll check then.

Incidentally, any sender info on a printed label bought online will be for the seller, it won’t have anything to do with where it was posted. So I buy my labels online but often take them with me if I’m out and post them wherever I find a post office, but that makes no difference.

Just as an update to my above post re return addresses.
On Vinted all my Yodel parcels show just my name, the inpost labels show nothing to identify myself at all. Unfortunately no one on Vinted bought anything so I haven't needed to download a label, and I have no ebay SD labels to print this morning, my few sales have all been LL where I will be using standard ebay labels.

If I make any more sales this morning I will update.

Just thinking about the sub £10/100g rule, if someone had a CD or DVD that weighs more than 100g but is for sale at less than £10, would a money saving person be able to fill in the package size as less than 100g? and sort the postage out the old way (not using SD). eBay would be none the wiser surely.

That should work as seller would be responsible for the postage after all and ebay aren't there with you at the PO checking the weight.

I am waiting at the moment for a more in depth update from ebay regarding these exemptions, at the moment it's all only on bits of messages and official reps replying on the community boards. I like to see things outlined clearly in the official messages on ebay.

I am not sure I understand this simple delivery at all.  I listed one small parcel size item just now.  Normally I would have listed with RM £3.25 or £3.39.

1st attempt - listed it as 1kg and it showed on my listing as postage £2.94 buyer pays.   But after listing is done it shows as buyer will pay £2.50
2nd attempt  - got worried that parcel might just weigh over 1kg so listed as 2kg.  showed on my listing as buyer will pay £3.71.  But after listing is done, it shows as buyer will pay £2.50!
3rd attempt - listed excluding Royal mail, thinking that Evri will be cheaper - now it says buyer will pay £4.07

The prices are confusingly shown with and without VAT in different places.

also if you scroll back through the thread to the actual price list, excluding one of the 2 options automatically increases the postage. Absolutely crazy way of doing things, but the price chart is quite clear that’s what happens.

I forgot to update. Just to confirm that on SD the Evri labels do not show either the sender name or the address. I haven't had any RM SD labels yet, all of mine are coming through as Evri probably due to the cost difference.

I've just seen some other issues being reported about this system from casual users, including a friend of mine.

Thinking about it there are 3 types of private sellers on ebay, the unregistered businesses - but we will ignore them, the regular users and the casual users. I suspect most of the regular users will be aware of the new SD system, or perhaps even come on here or another forum to ask about it- or even read the announcements themselves , but the casual users may well not be aware.

My friend for instance, lists a few things in batches, then nothing for a couple of months, then another batch, she sells a few things a year, doesn't really 'do' ebay, just does the same thing, measures her parcel, looks at completed sales for a price- lists with her RM option as usual and that's it. We happened to be speaking yesterday and she mentioned that she had posted off three items and wasn't going to be paid for them - and it transpires she saw the new labels, but just wrote the address as normal and took them to the PO. She is unable to add the delivery codes she has, and of course she'll never receive the postage money back whatever happens. Yes she admits to having had a couple of notifications from ebay, but like many she glances at them, assumes they don't relate to her and just files them away. She also admits to see the SD price when she listed, but thought perhaps it was a RM special offer (we had one on couriers back in about 2019 so there is precedent) and thought her own postage would over write it.

She did briefly try live chat, which is very busy apparently but got a lot of nonsense about how once tracking on SD shows as delivered she will get paid, but couldn't get past that for an answer about what happens in her scenario.

Looking at other forums, this has caught others out in the same way , there's quite  alot of people who have sold items with no idea what SD is, just sending things off as normal and ignoring the labels, or even believing they will get the postage back under the new system once the system notes the label hasn't been used.

I have no idea how to address the issue of casual users , I think it might be a bit draconian to stop people listing until they confirm they have read the new rules- and even that drastic measure won't stop stuff that is already listed and is 'apparently' all going to be automatically switched in a weeks time.

I do have a couple of questions on simple delivery, but inadvertently had to use simple delivery as 3 of my items defaulted to this. It was easy enough but less convenient as they'd picked Evri so it's a 10 minute drive away and not somewhere I routinely drive through.

On pricing I uploaded an item last night and looked at simple delivery, picking Royal Mail the item would be over £10 with Ebay or £8.19 with RM. The weights offered were up to 2kg and up to15kg my parcel was 4kg.

    Questions

    1. If I have my items set to auto-relist, and I have custom postage now, but it auto-relists after the 15th April does the postage change to simple delivery?

    2. I'd rather not use Evri and have a more convenient option, with RM are all post offices part of this? If not how can I search where my nearest drop off point is?
