I do have a couple of questions on simple delivery, but inadvertently had to use simple delivery as 3 of my items defaulted to this. It was easy enough but less convenient as they'd picked Evri so it's a 10 minute drive away and not somewhere I routinely drive through.

On pricing I uploaded an item last night and looked at simple delivery, picking Royal Mail the item would be over £10 with Ebay or £8.19 with RM. The weights offered were up to 2kg and up to15kg my parcel was 4kg.

    Questions

    1. If I have my items set to auto-relist, and I have custom postage now, but it auto-relists after the 15th April does the postage change to simple delivery?

    2. I'd rather not use Evri and have a more convenient option, with RM are all post offices part of this? If not how can I search where my nearest drop off point is?

    Ty
You can disable one of the options, so you could remove Evri entirely, but be warned, for some strange reason that increases the price of the one option left.

Ebay did say that on the 15th April all current listings would switch to SD, but as I have said several times, I think this is wildly optimistic as full announcements about the alleged exemptions have not yet been made.

All POs should be part of this, and I noticed today when out for a walk around town, that many smaller parcel shops also now say they accept RM ebay parcels. My local one has a large handwritten sign on door that says they take Yodel DPD and RM and when I went in to drop off a Yodel parcel they asked if I used RM and suggested I use them in future.

I've just sold my first thing on SD with RM- so far all my SD items have gone Evri.

Interestingly this time I have a FAQ section below the label download, and one of the questions is:
Package larger or heavier than declared?
    and the response is
Please proceed using this label. We've ensured the courier will accept your package for delivery.

According to comments on the community boards and other forums this is not true, and many POs are refusing overweight or oversize items!

    The other FAQs are

What are the best practices when posting my item?
Do I need a printer to use this label?
What carriers are available on Simple Delivery?
Where can I find my nearest drop off location?
How can I print a packing slip?
How do I track the status of my delivery?
What will happen if my item is lost or damaged during transit?
What if I don't want to use the prepaid label?
Can I change the shipping service or add additional shipping options?
What if I send my item after the stated handling time?
What happens if the item cannot be delivered to the buyer?
What if I cannot drop off my item at my nearest drop-off location, or what if the carrier does not accept my package?
I haven't yet generated the prepaid label and one of the addresses is wrong. What can I do?
I have already generated the prepaid label and one of the addresses is wrong. What can I do?

I think I'll be pulling my listings and wait to see how it all pans out.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this part of the forum, so apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. I have read through this thread.

I'm a casual seller - just selling bits and pieces when I have a little clear out, every few months or so.
Yesterday was my first experience of "Simple" delivery - it looked ok for some things, but for a few I used the advanced options and chose the specific Royal Mail option that I wanted as the SD suggestion was expensive.
As others have said, the options for parcels seem to be <2kg then a jump to <15kg, and I had a couple of around 4kg, and a couple of Large Letter sized things.

Anyway, I've come here to ask if anyone else has had this. I listed everything as buyer to pay postage, however:
When looking at my list of Active items for sale, some say "+ postage (you pay)", and others say "+ postage (buyer pays £x.xx)".
(That was on my PC. On my phone, the first one appears as the longer "+ free postage (free for buyer, you pay)", the second is the same.)

So I logged out, and had a look at my items as a buyer would see them, and all appeared correctly, with buyer to pay postage.

It looks like where I'd chosen Simple Delivery,  it's shows as "...you pay..." and where I'd chosen my own postage option (RM), it shows as "...buyer pays...".

Is this just an(other) ebay glitch, or does it mean something?

I'm not entirely sure I quite understand what has happened so my answer might be off target.

With either your own 'advanced' postage you can opt for free postage (ie you pay out of the item cost) or add postage which buyer pays to you, and this should show as postage if you search your items logged out.

For simple delivery you need to set the weight band from the limited options given, and then click either buyer pays where you are sent a free label, or seller pays, where you are stills ent a label but ebay will charge you for it.

Items set as buyer pays should show postage as extra, and sellers pays should show as free post to the buyer - again when logged out.

Just to confuse things the switch to automatic SD starts tomorrow - even though a full announcement about exemptions for overweight or very light letters has not been clarified. So your items 'might' change regardless anyway.

    from the announcement:

Starting from 7 April, Simple Delivery will apply to your existing live listings that are eligible, so you can enjoy more protections and benefits. If you selected buyer-paid postage, this will stay the same when your listings are updated. If you’re covering the costs, they’ll be deducted from your sales. Please note that in both cases, the costs may change.

I thought we had the notification saying SD starts automatically from 15th April??

It's weird you say that, as my recollection was that you had to list with SD from the 7th and existing listings changed on the 15th, but the message on ebay now states what I posted in the previous post, the other way round.

I know I keep saying it, but, ebay are nowhere ready for this major change yet and potentially this is going to be a real issue. We haven't even had clarification re the exemptions yet, but the message says 'Starting from 7 April, Simple Delivery will apply to your existing live listings that are eligible' so how do we know which ones won't be switched?

There is also the major issue of what ebay say and what people are reporting PO staff are saying. Ebay state that if your item is too large or too heavy for the label provided then '
Please proceed using this label. We've ensured the courier will accept your package for delivery', but numerous people are being told by the PO that they will strictly enforce the size and weight limit with no allowance for it being an ebay label. Just my opinion, but I suspect ebay have not realised that RM and PO are 2 different companies, and although RM have said they will carry these items, the PO doesn't have to agree.

So the way it reads at the moment from midnight or close of business today (?) tonight all 'eligible' listings (no idea what eligible is as it hasn't been fully outlined) will be switched to SD with the possibility of sales on Monday morning set up with RM coming through as Evri.

I have no idea how many private listings there are on ebay, but a category I just looked at for pricing information had over 330,000 items - so we must be talking several million listings.

Whilst the ebay announcement said all eligible listings would switch on the 7th, mine have not changed and I'm still showing my own postage on both LLs and parcels - apart from the recent parcel size ones that I listed with SD.

However, there are a few reports elsewhere that sellers have seen their own listings change - so there doesn't appear to be any clarity at all about what is happening, and still no update about the exemptions.

Mine don't seem to have changed at all - mind you I am so confused about the whole thing that I don't even know what I am supposed to be looking for!!   In the last few days I did 4 or 5 listings using SD and all of them show different postage (£2.50, £3.85, £4.27 etc) although all of them are small parcel size.  I am thinking of doing time away for 2 weeks and watch what happens and see what people report.

    Hi soolin

    Sorry I wasn't clear, I did waffle on a bit :)

It was just saying that in the Active Items view, where I've selected Simple Delivery, it says "you pay" (i.e. seller pays) for postage, even though I have set it up for the buyer to pay the postage.
When a potential buyer views the item, they (correctly) see "buyer pays".
I.e. there is a difference between the buyer's view (correct), and what it says in my list of Active Items (incorrect).

Where I have chosen my own postage option, in the Active Items it correctly shows that the buyer pays the postage.

Just wondered if this was just a glitch in the Active Items view, or something I should worry about / try to sort out.
