eBay simple delivery (merged)

Yes, they are fine with it (as long as we don't take the p!ss). I only sell something 2-3 times a year and always go for the cheapest option for the size and weight.martindow said:Is your employer happy for you to use the office franking machine? It's cheaper for them than the cost of me nipping to the post office down the road!If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...2 -
I had a strange one on this. When you use eBay simple delivery it says it doesn't matter if the dimensions or weight are higher than what you entered when you listed the item, as long as it's within the maximum for the postage service.
So a parcel I sent with Evri had a weight of just over 1kg, but the limit for service was 2kg. Someone decided to scan it and entered it weighed just over 1kg, when the printed label said item weight 1kg.
I received an email from eBay with the subject line "The courier reported you underpaid for postage"
I opened it and it says "resulting in an additional charge of £0.00.
Don't worry, we've covered the charge this time. To avoid unexpected charges on future orders, double-check the package weight and dimensions when creating listings."
How generous of eBay to cover 0p!
I imagine if I did post something that was slightly over now, they'll decide I've already been granted an exception.

That reminds me of the old days of Pack-link via eBay and the amount of people who ended up with high surcharges £9-£17 because they'd signed up for the service, with pack-link just helping themselves to money in sellers bank accounts, even when a packed item was proved to be the correct weight. NEVER AGAIN! If eBay start that malarkey once again, I think most won't bother using eBay to sell their unwanted item, as they're more likely to be able to sell on V*nted.
Fortunately, I sold most of my items before the eBay Simple Delivery ceased to be optional. It must be time for eBay's quarterly figures………..

The things that irritate me a bit about Simple Delivery are:
- I stocked up on stamps of various values before price rises. I can't use those stamps to post items sold through eBay (except for the few items eBay don't want to offer 'Simple Delivery' for - like those that are on the Evri prohibited list, but permitted through Royal Mail.)
- There's been occasions when I've walked to a Royal Mail/Evri parcel locker, scanned the QR code on my phone, gone through all the steps like giving my email address for a receipt, selecting the parcel size locker required etc, accepted all the other messages that appear, only to then to be given a message saying the printer isn't "available" and to try another locker, when the next nearest is over a mile from the first.

I agree with you and………
No.3 - You put in all the details at the RM/Evri locker screen only to be told after 5-10 minutes of putting all the info in once you get the machine to wake up that there are no lockers available 😡😡. Or better still, the locker doesn't recognise the barcode or QR code. 😡😡. Not everyone can get to a post / delivery office to post items which was the whole point of the lockers.
I gave up on stocking up on stamps, except for letter and large letter because I actually use those for my own purposes.

On locker availability InPost have a good feature on their website. It's a shame Evri and Royal Mail don't do the same. And if the printer doesn't work, is it supposed to report itself that it needs more labels, ink, fixing? If so why doesn't it say. If not, why not give details for reporting a problem with the printer.
Another thing about parcel shops is they are often a small operation. One person off sick or stuck in bad traffic can mean a shop's hours are reduced.
