eBay simple delivery (merged)

Are you increasing the price of your items? If so then you've rather misunderstood the buyer protection fee - it's added on top of what you list for. It's not like it used to be when you had to work out how much would be taken off the final price and what you'd receive from it. Now, what you list for is what you'll get.soolin said:
Unfortunately the cost alone means it wouldn’t be exempt, so it will have to go as a tracked LL which will cost the buyer £2.70. However all private sellers are in the same boat, and of course it isn’t ‘profit’ as such so you should still be competitive against other sellers.Hello just wondering if anyone has any insight. I'm listing small items with a value off less than £20 on Ebay that will fit in a standard envelope, which means before Ebay's simple delivery I could post them for £0.85p or £1.55 which was covered by Royal Mail up for £20 and kept costs to a minimum. Now I can only send these same items with simple delivery at £2.70 which is eating into my already minimal profits. Is there anything I can do or do I just have to put up with it? Thanks
It's ridiculous, having to inflate the price because of the buyer protection fee and now the extra postage is really making it not worth selling low value items at all on the platform.1 -
Not sure if this helps but I sell only large letter items less than £10, so no SD just a stamp.chipp said:I despair of simple delivery. I sell perhaps a couple of low value items a month that I always used to send out post paid using UK 2nd class large letter, generally max 250 grams. I discovered when I sold something on 17th July that simple delivery had been imposed upon me with no option to switch back to the old system. Ebay completely ignored all of the size and weight info I had set up on the listing and charged me for a 1kg parcel. I didn't use the label and on 18th bought postage from Royal Mail then requested a refund for the unused simple delivery. No acknowledgement was received so thinking I'd done it wrong I spoke to ebay who talked me through what I should do (it was the same as I'd already done) but still no acknowledgement. The item was delivered safely on 20th and I received positive feedback. I requested a SD refund again, yet again no acknowledgement but this time I captured screen shots as proof. Spoke to ebay yet again today and all the CSA could do was send a message to another dept.Ebay allow 14 days to request a refund of unused SD. Nobody at ebay can tell me even if my refund request is "in the system". After tomorrow it will be too late to request the refund again.I can live without the hassle involved in deriving a net income of perhaps £5 per month from my ebay sales. Just as well I can take the hit on selling something at a loss too. After 19 years (that's what the CSA told me today, he thanked me for my loyalty!) I have decided to stop selling on ebay.
If I amend or relist anything on my phone it automatically defaults to SD and I can't change it. Only way to keep it as a stamp is by using the laptop to relist or amend listings.
Very annoying!0 -
Many LL items under £10 are in exempt categories, they should still be allowing custom postage if they fit the criteria. The fact that it doesn't work on the app is possibly just a sign that the app itself is pretty poor for many functions.JWM said:

Unfortunately there is no longer any work round for most parcels or non exempt LL items. I say most as despite this having gone on for months, the system still doesn't appear to have bene fully rolled out yet.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just encountered this Simply setup as I've not sold on Ebay for a while. I was given only the option of Evri and drop-off only. I used to always choose a RM collection as I live far from the shops. Is RM collection not an option anymore?0

I know this is a long thread but it might be worth skimming back over the last few pages as DD is covered quite extensively.DarrenLee02 said:Just encountered this Simply setup as I've not sold on Ebay for a while. You can remove one of those options in your settings but that oushes up the price of the remaining option. If you want to use RM then remove the Evri option, but remember that RM collection now costs 30p per parcel which you would have to pay .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I didn't realise they had changed it again. It was free, then they charged, then it was free again for a while before becoming chargeable - I can't keep up!

Best news I've had in ages. Not necessarily that they are increasing the low value limit but that they aren't scrapping custom postage entirely. I have several low value custom postage items that I hadn't been able to revise without 'upgrading' to simple delivery before, but now can.soolin said:Just got this from eBay ‘Simple Delivery: Now optional on more lower-priced items
