That's a shocking increase!  I wonder how they can justify that, it really just looks like price gouging on the surface.

Absolutely insane.  I have not used Ebay since these new systems came into force in the spring (not just for Ebay reasons, other commitments etc), and was beginning to think about re-starting, but I will not go back if they do this, as I am not prepared to use Evri.
For the <£100 price, it is a 41% increase, >£100, a 56% increase - and what extra value would a seller or buyer get for that ?  Zero.  I also note they say it applies to people who opt-in for "Royal Mail only", i.e. not RM and Evri - so it might be to deter people from doing so, and thus forcing them to face the possibility of having to use Evri, even if they do not want to ?   So all this suggests it is a deterrent to force sellers to do what Ebay wants.
I do wonder how the £5.15 or £6.16 income is to be divided between RM and Ebay, if anyone actually ever uses it !

Ah sorry folks - had read this as small parcel (which is what I was using to using regularly) not medium parcel - so comment not relevant !

Gosh. I have been using Royal Mail only for ages without any issues. I wonder if anyone else had an issue with EVRI, when the seller says it was dropped at their parcel shop on Wednesday morning, but EVRI tracking system says they got it on Saturday? The latter means that potentially I will not receive the item at all, because it is being delivered to a parcel shop and I am going away for a month so won't be able to collect it. :s

There has been tracking issues with all the couriers recently, including RM and Evri - but on the other hand some sellers do bend the truth a little when stating when they dropped a parcel off.

RM 1kg (up to 2 kg) medium parcel is currently £5.15 on their website so ebay must have been making a loss at only £3.64.

EBay won’t be making a loss.  Their negotiated rates will be far better than any price available to you or I.

In eBay announcements (6th Aug) it says they are adding new couriers.
The odd thing was it wasn’t Simple Delivery, I listed an item of clothing soon after and the postage options were completely different I.e. just showed SD, the bag was like the old days of adding your own choice of services.

Alas, it didn't work this time :( I am already in Oz and the parcel wasn't ready for collection before I was flying somewhere over Indonesia. It was also delayed by a day with respect to the estimated delivery time. There is nobody to collect it within the next 10 days. I obviously would like a full refund.
    Any advice?

For future reference always allow extra time on top of the estimates for delivery if you know you can't pick something up. The delivery estimates are just that, estimates and on ebay are wildly inaccurate. I've got RM items showing today as standard 2nd class and a 2 day despatch on my business account estimating as arriving Monday - when technically I have until then to actually post, and RM suggest 2 or 3 days now for their 2nd class post. Evri are just as bad on SD, the last one I checked on my private account had an estimated delivery the same day as i could post till.

What will happen now is that after 10 days or so the parcel , assuming it doesn't show as collected, is that it will go back to the seller and at that point you will get a refund a week or so later. The time frame is a little loose, but you are talking a couple of weeks in total  if this is sitting in an Evri shop.

Thank you. I haven't realised that an item costing over 300GBP would be posted with EVRI and, despite the fact that I asked the seller to post it asap, 4 days after it was actually paid. In my mind something that expensive should go Next Day Special Delivery guaranteed. Of course, I understand it is more expensive etc, but it is just (again, in my view) too greedy to do otherwise.
