Been an expensive weekend as have had to fork-out £36 on train tickets for Tuesday's 'Assessment Day' in London & another £5 for passport photos as I need 2 of them as well.

Aw Patman, expense is not good but hopefully this will be a case of speculate to accumulate so hopefully everything goes well for you in the assessment day. Best wishes for the big day :T

Welcome Dida80, I started my emergency fund from nothing and I'm up to nearly £80 in just over a month so keep plodding away at it. Hope that you are successful in your assessment day Patman. Please keep us all informed.

Hopefully, from Monday, I will be able to start again to build up my fund, not that I had a lot in it before my emergency, it certainly brought it home how important it is to have.

I will be looking to reclaim the trainfare as it is for a job. Not holding my breath, but at least I will have a valid reason to refuse to undertake such a trip in the future.

That's good to hear, kdalwayskint. After all, that's what this thread is for, to motivate and encourage us to build up a pot for just such emergencies. It's not really for long-term savings as such. I haven't much in my EF yet but feel a whole lot better knowing there's a small cushion there to help when needed.
