  • I have family all over the world and we have each set up a fund so that we can immediately buy a ticket and fly to be with a family member in a time of emergency. It is more than £1000 as some family live in Australia. It took me a while to build up but is in an instant access online bank account and accrues a little interest. I won't dip into it for anything other than its purpose.

What a very good idea your family has come up with, it must give you all great peace of mind:T

Are you going to join us to build up a general Emergency Fund to cater for all the spanners that get thrown into the works from time to time?

Would really like to join this challenge. I'm heavily in debt and although I'm self employed and make enough money to live on and pay down some of my debt, I've never actually put aside an emergency fund :(

I've been terribly irresponsible with my money over the years but really want to turn over a new leaf in 2015. I'm hoping that joining challenges here on the forum and becoming a regular contributor will help me to learn accountability and how to save and look after my money properly.

I'm starting with £0 for my emergency fund but have opened a post office account which is easy to transfer money into but won't be withdrawing a penny from this year (hopefully).
