Well, I survived my works 'do'. Mind you, 2 pints of 'Brewdog Vagabond' in 45 minutes on an empty stumoch nearly took the legs out from under me, but the 3 course meal we had in a nearby cafe was enough to steady the ship.

Thanks to having holiday spare, I am now finished work until 04/01/2016.

So I will raise a glass of the box of Italian beers I purchased from ASDA for £5 tonight and wish you all a merry Christmas.

  • Put £200 + 48p change into the fund today so now I'm over £1,000 again woooohooo!

I'll put another £200 in on xmas day but I'm having to shuffle money in and out of the new clydesd@le account in order to get my switch bonus so it's currently sitting in there.

    Have a nice xmas everyone

  • Well done to all savers and thanks for your company right through 2015:T

Wishing you all a brilliant Christmas without too much damage to your savings:xmastree::xmassign:

See you on the other side;)
  • Hi folks, hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday and Santa was kind :)

Got the quote for the 2nd part of fixing the heating and it's going to totally wipe out my EF and eat a bit into the pets one too :(

So .. back to a big fat £0 on the EF for the NY :o (will need to get a figure for the pets EF once I've had the final bill - hoping there will be £200ish left in it)

Anyway, pleased I had the money put aside but gutted I've had to use it! It's the most I've had saved for years!!

Getting back is going to be hard - I go back to my old job in the NY with a pretty substantial salary drop so need to re-work those budgets!

Onwards and upwards as the saying goes ....

Wishing everyone a very happy NY and here's to saving hard & keeping each other motivated in 2016 :)

  • That's a real blow, rising from the ashes:eek:. As you say, though, at least you had the money in your EFs:j. I get quite depressed whenever I have to dip into mine but without this challenge I would have saved nothing at all and be in a real pickle whenever emergencies have struck. So yes, it's a shame to have to start from square one again but the advantage is being able to pay for the boiler without panicking and/or going into debt;)

We'll all still be here through 2016, motivating, consoling and cheering each other on:beer:

Rising, think how you would have had to fund the heating repairs if you had not saved up your EF.

Anyway, M-in-L is now in a carehome for resbite care so will be spending a lot of diesel running MrsP to see her mum.
