I think PS4 will also have a long-term upper hand here with indie game developers and (like the film industry) indie games are becoming more and more relevant!Hi. Yeah I agree completely. The xbox NEEDS to get out first. Not sure how many people plan to buy both but at about £800 then I certainly won't be. I do think the xbox has more potential, where as the PS4 sounds more like an updated PS3 - not a bad thing as we have all been crying out for both consoles to be updated - but if the xbox is successful in doing the extra things then it would have more to offer.
Lot's of IF's and MAYBE's but hopefully over the next 4/5 months things will become clearer. Microsoft had a PR disaster but seem to be starting to say some of the right things now.0 -
They are saying the right things now, because they've seen the backlash from their community. Closing the gate after the horse has bolted, so to speak.
Poll results across many gaming forums and websites all show a similar trend, which leans towards the PS4. Which is fantastic for Sony as i think they missed a trick, and were always a step behind, with the PS3.0 -
Well it is 5 months still to launch (if only we could jump forward in time!!!) and most pre-orders are free so I reckon the figure could change up and down over the coming months. Most polls aren't just leaning, they are completely toppled towards ps4 - but the real proof will be in solid sales and I reckon it will probably be much closer.
My dilemma is whether to go with an online retailer or go for a midnight opening - my post can be very sketchy and I'd be gutted if everyone else is playing and mine is sat in a depot or a van0 -
daft question but why the need to check in every 24 hours with the xbox?0
-
To make sure people aren't playing pirated games offline on chipped Xboxes, like many people did on the 360.0
-
so how does the checkin stop that? sorry bit thick here
is the idea that no one would chip a console if they had to remove the chip every 24 hours?0 -
The Xbox will perform a "handshake" with Microsoft servers, if anything is amiss it will remove the Xbox's ability to play games. Same if you don't log in once every 24 hours, the ability to play games is removed until you establish a connection.
It's Microsoft's way of making sure people aren't tampering with the consoles to play pirated games.0 -

It will never work, hackers and pirates are always one step ahead, with the software and hardware manufactures playing catch up. The system will be hacked with in 24hrs of release to the public if not before.0 -
I don't doubt it, Richard.0
