Actually a better example is Steam. Buy a game on steam and once you use/apply the key to your account it's not transferrable. Many deveopers are releasing games via the Steam platform with no disks, all you get in the box is an activation code. Advantages are like MS have said, you can play anywhere you sign in. Steam is estimated to have around 75% of the entiure downlaod market.

Where Steam wins is that a lot of the games are cheap enough not to worry that they are bad, you don't care as much for a £5 game as a £50 game.

Personally I adore the Playstation exclusives (Uncharted, The Last Of Us, InFamous, etc) so if the consoles were evenly matched then I'd opt for the Playstation 4. But they're not evenly matched. The PS4 is better (for what I'd use it for) and it is also cheaper. So it's easy for me to choose PS4.

I'm very surprised about what has happened. Microsoft are putting a lot of hope into Halo fans. And Sony are putting a lot of hope into the media.
Media vs Halo fans. This is the real question!

...but a lot of people thought the same thing about the PS3 until Sony completely failed to deliver it in the timeframe they said they would...then people got bored and bought the xbox rather than wait...wonder if history could repeat itself here...Sony seem a little fuzzy about their "err...Christmassy-holiday-err-newyeary time" release date so far...hopefully they'll give us a more concrete date in the coming days...and meet it.

I have both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Have had them both roughly the same time as each other, I currently have 196 PS3 Games and 9 Xbox360 Games.

Never did get into the Xbox360, favouring the PS3 that I never bored of.

Saying this, I wont be buying either the PS4 or the Xbox1, none will play my previous games and I have no intentions of having to log a games console online, just for the privilege of playing or purchasing a game on a console.

I still think the PS4 will be Years ahead of the Xbox in total sales, with having the Open Source availability for programs and software creation.

It will be interesting to see when they are both launched - Microsoft have said November but Sony have been much more vague.

If there is a gap of weeks between them then IF the xbox delivers what has been suggested then it could be a blow for Sony. I expect that initial sales might be slower on the xbox for day one but could pick up quickly IF they deliver what they are promising with the friend game sharing.

If the PS4 was out first then it would be a huge blow to the xbox and all those sitting on the fence or leaning slightly more to the PS4 would purchase that.

To be honest, if Sony get the PS4 out first, I think they could *massacre* the xbox this time around...but that's a big IF. If Sony slip past Christmas, it could go the other way.
