Well now it has been deleted I can edit my post. :p

I only posted to give context to my question about the :spam: button, any ideas about why it isn't on this forum but is on the others?

tbh never noticed that, I guess you didn't either until you looked for it ;) guess they forgot to include it would be my thought. maybe PM a mod as a spammer is about as I just reported one earlier today.

M$ might allow you to share your games with 9 friends, but you cannot sell-on the game when you are bored with it or have finished the game. This alone, will be their undoing.

People are moaning about having the konnect always on, but these same people will probably buy one of the new breed of smart TVs with cameras that track their hand movements & can even use face recognition to allow for customized homescreens.

The idea of downloadable only content would be bad. What happens if your HD fails ?. You could potentially lose £1,000's of games without recourse.

They have said you can sell games - either to trade in places or to a person on your friends list.

If your HD fails then presumably you would buy a new console and re-download games since it is linked to your gamertag I would have though.

Xbox one is like Windows 8. A massive fail on a grand scale !

Smart people wait before jumping onto the new game console to find out how bad or well it actually is. Remember the ring of death' and the system crashes with the first products, then the updates that need to be quickly rolled out to fix problems that made it past inspection.

Not a gamer, that ended when my Spectrum died, but if i was going to buy one it would be the PS4. Xbox demands too much plus the mic and cam can not be turned off (MS has control of settings they can turn it on)

Not everyone has internet and people like to share, swap and trade games.
Xbox one's only chance of staying in the game is for the hackers to create a chip to bypass the constant internet connection and also allow users to share and swap games.

Another thing to point out that buying a second hand Xbox one can have it's pitfalls if the previous owner has not de-registerd the machine.

Just my personal response, don't know if I am entirely accurate in my facts, I am not that interested at the moment, but, that is the point, with the little bit of knowledge I have, that is my opinion and MS have done nothing to dispel my misgivings about their console.

    First impressions count and last.

    In response to your comments:

Price: Fair enough, it's the only real contender for a differential at this point

DRM: All content will be downloadable only within 3 years. Apple have started it (you can't get OS discs anymore), MS are following.

Internet Down: Just hand shake with your phone or laptop. If the accounts are used across all devices, that is all that is needed. Out of all the issues, I believe this one will be the one to change marginally.

Cloud Computing: Because, MS have over half a million servers at their disposal for this specific task. Sony don't, and never will. In addition, MS are using under utilised cloud servers from Azure and O365 to accommodate this. It means, that, whilst the PS4 may be more powerful at launch, the XB1 can have it's processing power boosted by offloading tasks to the cloud. It's self evolving in a way. So, given that these new gen consoles are likely to be around for the next 7 years, the PS4 hardware make get an uplift, it will be only to match what the XB1 has been doing all along.

Online Experience. XBL is £30, often less, and is a much more honed experience than PS.

    :)

I'm amazed you can say it's a great fail when it is 5 months away from launch! The E3 launch was a PR disaster though and MS really failed to explain their key features leaving people to put 2+2 together and come up with assumptions.

Smart people do wait, however gaming geeks and early adopters don't, both consoles will sell loads on day 1. It will be interesting to see which one actually launches first.

The mic and cam can be completely turned off - this has been confirmed by MS almost 2 weeks ago.

Not everyone may have internet but over the next few years then digital downloads will be the main way of getting games. MS have went with the gamble that their customers will be connected as there must be a very high portion of current 360 users with a connection.

Gamers can swap and share games , if they are on your 10 friends/family list then they are automatically shared. You can sell games on and trade them (although trade is only at selected places).

The xbox won't only stay in the game if a mod chip is produced for it! If MS implement the features for the friends/family list as they have described and if the cloud works as they are suggesting then it will be a massive bonus over PS4 users.

MS have made an absolute PR disaster for this and not bigged up the major plus points and also not stressed that most of the negative chat about the camera/privacy is completely irrelevant as the Kinect can be disabled.

Sorry, all content will not be download only within 3 years that is a ridicules statement. (unless you are only talking about MS, and not generally, in which case another reason to not get Xbox1)

Apple may have started it and that is another company that I will not touch because of their restrictive constraints on their devices, and if MS follow they will alienate a lot of people.

What about people who don't have smart phones? And if your internet is down, how do you handshake with your laptop? Again it seems totally unnecessary, I can't see any point to it apart from keeping tabs on people.

How do you or anyone know what Sony will have in the future.

I am not convinced about "Cloud Computing" in this context, yes MS may have half a million servers and be able to crunch the data at a phenomenal rate, but, what happens if you have a slow internet connection (or again you connection is down), how does all the necessary data get from the Cloud to your console fast enough to make a difference. Everyone is going to need super fast fibre optic, totally unlimited connections. More £££ to spend on top of your initial outlay for the console.

Well my son is the main games player in our house. He's been a massive xbox fan, as are most of his circle of friends. They've been talking about upgrading for ages and my son started saving up ages ago.

But come the announcement and if my son's response and his friends are anything to go by then MS may want to rethink their stance PDQ.

Most of them now are intending to go PS4 with only one holdout. (No idea who he will play with!).

Perception is almost everything and right now it seems like MS are being the ogres trying to stop kids from playing games whilst Sony are the good guys.

I'll probably buy the PS4 but I won't buy the launch version though as there's alway teething problems with new technology. I've been stung by this before with the red ring of death on my launch version xbox 360.

Apparently Amazon had a similar vote, where the result ended up 2162 for Xbox Vs 38984 votes for PS4. The poll was then taken down.. After pressure from Microsoft perhaps? :-D
