PS4 Vs XBox One

Voted on behalf of hubby - this is the first time I've taken an interest in his gaming - though I use the xbox for music, Netflix and lovefilm
He's always been an xbox fan, but is planning to switch sides to the PS4
I watched the launch programme with him and there seemed to be very little about actual gaming (apart from a couple of sports games, which don't interest us)
I don't really buy into the whole voice activation business, we don't have a need for that in our household, just a games console that's good for gaming (plus I don't think it will work)
The xbox one won't allow for when you want to take your game round for gaming nights with your mates - unless they buy the game as well (won't allow for swapping, without paying extra cash).
This paying extra money for second hand games business is incredibly greedy on Microsoft's account. I think their dismissal of criticism from people who throw hundreds of pounds their way every year is a reason alone to vote with your wallet
According to hubby, the only downside to PS4 is the 'little girly controllers' - I suggested that maybe someone will bring out a controller a little more similar to the xbox one but apparently that won't happen due to copyrightFinal cigarette smoked 02/01/18

We will be getting the PS4. We have both PS3 and Xbox 360 but I can't remember the last time the Xbox was switched on.. i think our Wii gets used more!
I though PS4 was going to do the same as Xbox with second hand games or did they decide against that in the end?0 -

PS4 will allow you to trade in and use second hand games freely, just as you can nowFinal cigarette smoked 02/01/18

I prefer the Xbox 360 controller to the PS-iterations, but not enough to get past the negatives of the Xbox One.I have no signature.0 -
At the moment it was 67 PS4 to 5 XBOX....massive figures!Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0

PS4 all the way, as a PS3 owner it was a no brainer. Even if the PS4 turned out to be worse than the XBone, I'd still get a PS4.
I was an Xbox 360 owner from launch, and an Xbox owner prior to that. I got fed up of the online community, it seemed to consist of 11 year old closet racists. Horrible. So I sold it a couple of years ago and got a PS3. The thing I enjoyed most at the time was that no one seemed to have a mic, so I didn't have to spend time muting people in lobbies.
However, it seems most of the 360 community is coming over to the dark side, so I might end up back at square one lol!!0 -

Such poor misunderstanding in this thread, it makes me sad.
xBox One, lets look at the facts:
Price: Yes, more expensive, but, add the camera to the PS4 and the network card, the PS4 price is similar.
DRM: No biggy. I don't have kids, or share games. Within 3 years, all content will be downloadable (no discs), and will practically unshareable anyway. Remember, Sony have only said that 1st party DRM will not be implemented, but all 3rd parties can implement DRM. I suspect the likes of EA and UBISoft will make massive use of this to protect their games.
Internet: Yes, I have the internet. The fact my xbox 1 will require it is of no consequence. If my internet goes down, the console will still work and play games for that handshake period (it's a once every 24 hour handshake).
Cloud Computing: This is the big MS winner. PS can't possibly compete here, and to offload proportions of the processing to the cloud is revolutionary.
Online experience: PSN sucks, and now you have to pay £50 for the experience, it's a massive kick in the nuts. The MP network will never match the XB Live experience. I'm actually glad all the dross gamers / hackers and cheaters will be on PSN, again.
Camera / Kinnect: It's not a separate part of the unit, it's built in, in theory. The camera is not just for game, but offers a whole new way to control the device and its peripherals and those devices connected to it through the home network. Don't want it? Turn it off (in settings) or cover it up.
Pre-Ordering: Good luck getting a PS4 on launch.
Controller: The PS controller sucks, and always has done. It's not ergonomic, and the two images above are nothing like an xBox controller.....The thumb placement is completely wrong0 -
PS4 here, I have a xbox and before that a PS2 swapped over because the xbox was cheaper and better online and also because family kids had the xbox, now will be swapping back again, so will my nephew, he has always had xbox but said yesterday he will never buy the xbox one, a bit shocking as he loves his xbox.
I can see a big big uturn as no way can xbox carry on if they don't.0 -

you have just confirmed there is no missunderstanding or missinformation with this post :rotfl: just because you think something is "no biggy" is not correcting it's accepting, there is a difference.0
