PS4 Vs XBox One

I very much doubt that the system will be hacked within 24 hours of release. It will take a lot of time & dedication. Best case scenario is that months down the line someone will figure out how to circumvent the online check to enable offline mode. But then to be honest most people would hate that. I had a chipped xbox I purchased from someone cheap ages ago. My son would rather play on a legit one so he can play with his friends. So I ended up shelling out for another.
Games nowadays are about playing online. Take away that and you remove one of the biggest, if not THE biggest attraction of the console.
For me the online check is just a nuisance that most gamers would probably tolerate. The killer is the inability to lend your friends a game which you've bought. And for children, the inability to trade your games and/or buy 2nd hand games without paying M$ more money.
Had Sony followed suit then the consumer would have little choice than to comply. Unless you want to play on the Wii-U! But Sony have offered a perfectly good alternative so unless MS change stance, I can see PS4 outselling the Xbox by a considerable margin.
Lastly remember that you can't play your old 360 games on the new xbox anyway so there really isn't anything keeping xboxer's tied in.0 -
PS4 definitely. It will probably have better games. I have found myself not using my Xbox for months now.0

There has been plenty of cases of new games being hacked and available with DRM removed before the official game is released.0 -
I was thinking it would just be a case of connecting every 24 hours and then being allowed to play, but what if, like me you turn your wifi off when going away for a week or away for a few days, would it just be a case of connecting and you get your rights to play back or would it be a longer process to get your playing rights back? wow I thought it was bad but the more you look into it, it gets worse :eek:0

The thrill of a multi player game, is the getting together in a room and playing to your hearts content.
Very few PS3 games were 2 player, unless you played across an internet with a friend who happened to have the same console as yourself. It was one of the main reasons I still played on my PS2, where we could gather in one room, play the one game together, using one of the two controllers available and not having to go through some account to do so.
In all the time I have had an Xbox360 and a PS3, the most popular console I still use with my friends, is th PS2 and its common two player\co op mode feature. Which is something still missing in the latest console wars.
The very idea that I would need to buy another console, for the privilege of playing a computer game with my Son, would be more than enough to put me off buying one in the first place.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

We'll be getting a ps4 on launch date. We've had both consoles, but had more problems with our XBoxes, whereas our big ps3 is still going strong! Other than that there are many reason why we won't be getting an XBox One
1. DRM. I understand that you can download games digitally. Yes, even the ps3 has that ability and I don't doubt that the ps4 will be like the XBox one on the digital downloads. But if I buy a game with a disc, then it is my decision on whether I want to trade, give/lend to a friend or keep forever. You don't get CDs or DVDs where the production company/producer gets a slice of the pie on second hand, tradeable items.
2. 24 hours checking in. I don't like it. Yes, we have wireless and will probably be online, but I don't like that you have to do it. I know plenty of people overseas who'll be getting the ps4 because of this. What happens if you go away for a week and wanted to take it to play for fun?
3. Kinect. I don't want a camera, so why should I feel that I have to buy it? If people want/don't want it then at least they have a choice.
4. Okay, so paying for online multiplayer is a step in MS's direction, but I like the games you get for free on the PSN store. Also, if I don't have PS+ then at least I can get lovefilm and Netflix. You have to pay for live to get those apps on XBox One when you have previously paid for them. It's like your paying for them twice.
5. I prefer the games on ps4. I'm not into shoot em ups. Or sports.
6. I dont like that you won't be able to use turtle beach headphones, or other controllers on the XBox.
The one downfall is that you can't play old ps3 games on the ps4. I know they said that it is physically impossible because the ps4 is different but I was hoping that it would be another plus. Ah well.Former Debt free wannabe. Now trying to save for a rainy day!0 -

I believe you can just re-establish a connection when you get back from holiday and you can play your games.0 -
Just wondered in from the compers thread just to post this

A seemingly big climbdown from Microsoft regarding the DRM
http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update
In brief:An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.0 -
Just goes to show how much weight the community holds.
Huge about turn for Microsoft, and not at all unsurprising.
Still wouldn't buy one :rotfl:0
