Xbox live is so much better that i dont mind paying the subscription evrey year. Psn is really crap but users love it because its free. Well id rather pay and have a good service any day of the week.
am i the only person who has had the opposite experience? on xbox live as soon as america wakes up the whole network slows down. theres been many times when i would keep losing connection midway through games. nothing at all like that has ever happened on psn for me.

XBox Live is "superior" to PSN?

Er... no! I've played on both, Live since 2006 and PSN since 2010. I can't tell any difference. Just maybe less angry, pre-pubescent, closet racist kiddies on PSN.

Not gonna buy either even though Micro$oft did a U-turn. I'm a playstationer by heart but do have a 360 and Wii, etc. I've too many current console games to play and I can't justify the price tags either. I also don't like how facebook is being shoved into gaming nowadays.

Right, I would have bought an Xbox One even before the turnaround, although its not a turnaround as such, more of a better explanation after some heavy PR Desaster from MS.

I also struggle to understand why people complain that the console has to be online at least once every 24h? My Internet works 24/7 and with BT my Internet has been down once (!!!) over the last 4 years for about 2 hours...

XBOX Live Subscription: Do people knoe that PS+ will cost money as well, around 4 quid per month?

DRM: Would have been great! Technically this could have made things much better. NO CD's/BluRays could have potentially lead to cheaper games. Sharing games with my friends and family would have been a posibility as well.

People complained about Itunes which right now is the Market Leader for Online Music puchases... same System!

For most people its coming down to the fact that they feel that MS is after their money, thats my opinion! Well, Sony wnats it even more with a cheaper console. Not Saying that the PS4 is too cheap, but I would like to see how Sony will keep the price over a periodof about 2 to 3 years, when they are selling a PS3 for a loss already.

You could see it this way: Sony is throwing all eggs in one single basket, which right now appears to be ok, however in the long run I am not sure if it will work for Sony.

Never mind that most are simply ignoring the fact the an Xbox comes with Kinect, while PS4 doesnt have a camera and needs to be purchased seperately.

The only argument I would accept is that as of now, the PS4 is more attractive for gamers only, however, MS console is planning for the future. I would not be surprised if we would be able to sub the Sky Box with an Xbox One completley.

You start off by saying its not a turn around as such just a better explanation then happily list all the things they uturned around on lol which is it? You can't have it both ways.
Just to pick up on the always on...IMO this wasn't the main issue but was high up there, to take the obvious example, the USA army would have been unable to use the xbone outside of the US as wifi and the region coding would have made that impossible but many other examples too, you may be one person none of this would have touched but many many others had real problems with these policies that stopped them just being able to play a game...did they have to make it so hard.

Maybe and I think it is or was their aim but do you really think boxes for TV are going to be around for TV in a few years? I'm thinking most will be build into the TV by then or saving/recording will use a CLoud type system. Remember MS is big but so are Sky etc do you think they will give so much control to MS?

I voted PS4. Even though Xbox backflipped on their charges for 2nd hand gaming and the 24 hr connectivity I don't really feel comfortable with the way they tried to bring it in.

I'm still sticking with PS4 unless Xbox One has some must have game that changes my mind.
  • I was previously an Xbox Fanboy. But first impressions on Xbox One are really low, so I guess I will have to convert :(

Imho the xbox and ps4 were built from different purposes.

The xbox cable tv (no use to the uk) and integrated media/streaming and the way the box runs 3 operating systems which is quite clever. It means that if ms makes the games virtual machine part of windows 9 could mean every high end pc in a few years will 'natively' play xbox games with no porting costs to developers.
This is good for generating long term revenue and growing a user base but the days of people owning massive desktop rigs are pretty much gone now.

Compare that with the ps4, sony are obviously hungry, angry and humble about the design failings of the ps3 you can see what they have done. They have made the most balls to the wall easy to program console and spent a lot of time with their games studios to get it right.
The ps4 hardware will dominate the xbox and the fact its a single hetrogenious address space fore the gpu/cpu will make programming a doddle not to mention all the damn near bare metal access to the hardware.
The online subscription +free old game makes a lot of sense to bring in casual gamers who would feel ripped off just buying it for multiplayer and will increase the audience for sequels.

Really E3 said it all, sony had a bunch of independents who ported their games running on the ps4 in 6 weeks while ms houses could barely keep their in house titles running without crashing or on high end dev boxes.

If I were a software publisher with the majority of my resource constraints/costs tied up in developer time I know what platform I would target first.

My prediction is ms funded exclusives aside most games will develop for ps4 first and release early then if the sales are there optimize for the lower end xbox hardware. Meaning the ps4 will get a wider choice of games and sooner.
