I have no proof I was on the flight, no boarding passes, booking ref, email confirmation etc. Also I booked it online so cannot go into local thomas Cook branch as someone has suggested, surely their records should show passenger details? I never keep any of these things after the holiday is over and who knew we were going to be able to claim! I did claim from my insurance at the time (approx £40pp) but they did not ask for any proof of the delay, presumed they had checked themselves on flight stats.
If you search for "no boarding pass" you get 106 hits - many of them posts from people asking the same question, including in the Thomas Cook forum.0 -

In answer to your question "who knew we were going to be able to claim", the relevant Regulation came into force, I believe, in 2005 so it was fairly well known by 2010. I can't recall what obligations there are/were on airlines to advise passengers of the Regulation following a delay.
Anyway, the other questions you ask are covered extensively on the forum so use the FAQs and the search facility and you'll find everything you need to determine whether you are able to make a valid claim.0 -
The reason for your delay is as follows:
Door L2 Guide Arm was damaged requiring replacement.
Attempts were made to rectify the defect but were unsuccessful and spares were sourced to minimize the delay.
This is my latest reply!
I received this after contacting the Caa however TC still saying its extraordinary circumstance.
Any help to where I go from here?0 -
hI
I was also on this flight , have you got any further ? I have had another reply from thomas cook after going through the CAA still saying extraordinary circumstances I am considering using solicitors as they claim we have a case ?
on the CAA website it states that mechanical faults can be avoided therefore not extraordinary circumstances which is my argument with thomas cook0 -

First link on the FAQs on page one - "what to do next". But basically, start a legal action, instruct a NWNF lawyer (for about 30% of your award) or drop it.0 -
Hi all
Just a quick update on my claim.. TCX1224 12/6/13
I contacted my house insurers, (after reading info on here, Thanks so much!) and they put me in contact with Irwin Mitchell, after looking in to my case, and apparantly as I received a letter from TC claiming EC they believe I do not have ' reasonable prospects of success' ....?
Oh well... Bott and co it is..
just to say a huge thank you to all who contribute to these threads, you are all :A0 -
hi, thanks for the info, you have probably guessed that I am new to this and don't know how to navigate round the forums.Do I search threads or posts? I am probably being really thick but have read the FAQ section and cannot find anything to do with boarding passes etc. David_e we were never advised that there was any compensation scheme by any of the airline/tour company staff and I only found out about it from MSE weekly newsletter recently so I don't think it is well known. any helpanyone can give an IT idiot like me is very much appreciated!!0

Search for SAR and/or "subject access request" and read the posts around your results.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Search for "posts" and then read around them, as Richard says.0
