Hi there I've just joined the site and need some help!! On June 4th 2013 me and my husband were ment to fly with thomas cook from Manchester to cancun but we were 24 hours delayed. We were delayed because of a technical fault on the plane. After the holiday I rang thomas cook to complain and all they offered me was a £50 voucher each, which they didn't send out. Because time has went by I thought it was to late but a friend who works for a different airline said you can claim up to 6 years is this true? Does anyone know if we should get more than the £50 voucher they offered? But my next problem is I've lost all my paper work so I don't know my flight details, is there anywhere I can find this out?:)

You need to read the FAQs at the start of this thread - you should find all the information you need including info on Flightstats which, once you register, you will be able to find your flight number based on the route and date, once you have read them there is a "what to do next" link that will give you template letters etc
  • help,
I have just received an email from tc saying that they are offering me a voucher for a delayed flight.... do I have to accept this or can I demand a cheque for the same amount, if so is there a template I can use.....cheers

you need to look at the Thomas Cook thread - searching on voucher you will see 300 posts most asking the same question...the answer is yes, you can ask for real money

    I give up ...

To all newbies reading this, please try to look for the answer before you ask the question, as some have been answered many times before. And avoid starting your own thread which just clutters up the main "contents" page and makes using the forum harder for others. It's quite selfish behaviour.

Finally after 2 years pretty much of pursuing Thomas Cook by all avenues I finally have my compensation on its way.

We were on flight TCX2995 from Antalya to Manchester on 27th August 2012.
It finally got settled through the CAA which I wasn't expecting at all to be honest, but I am very glad now that I wrote to them, they took a long time but it paid off to wait. I hope now those fellow travellers on the same flight will get their money too!

My fianc!e and I holidayed in Crete in September 2009, and flew from East Midlands to Heraklion.

After our very enjoyable holiday in Gouves, we were told when we got the coach back to the airport we would not be flying back to East Midlands but Gatwick. Does this mean our flight was cancelled? We were then delayed in leaving Heraklion and arrived at East Midlands after 2pm when originally we were due in at 8am.

Am I entitled to anything, because I am getting confused.

    Thanks in advance

Depends why your flight to the East Midlands was cancelled.

We were told at the time it was because they didn't have a plane to fly to both Gatwick and East Midlands.

If that's the reason, you have a legitimate claim. Read the FAQs to find out what to do next.

We had a more than 5 hour delay on a flight from Manchester to Antalya in July 2010. I wrote to TC in February 2013, they turned it down in March, I replied, asking for the reasons (& copied in CAA). TC replied to say they had no more to add. I wrote to them again in late March, keeping CAA copied in. I followed up with TC several times, each time including CAA. In October CAA asked TC to reassess their position on extraordinary circumstances. In late October TC eventually replied to my multiple e-mails, again rejecting my claim stating this was "a final response unless the CAA overturn a Thomas Cook Airlines decision."
I was therefore very surprised to receive an e-mail from TC today offering me £339 compensation per person, with a travel voucher to this value. I have asked them to replace this with a cheque.
So the message is to keep trying, the CAA seem to be the ultimate arbiter, and TC will not pay out until forced to.
To follow this up, they have very quickly exchanged the travel voucher for cash (BACS).
I'm actually feeling slightly guilty now, as the compensation is more than the flights actually cost......
