Forum Incredibly Slow With IE

I had better speeds when it was improved a week or two back, but it seems to have regressed.
Agree.
It's just taken ages for the site to load and it froze my laptop whilst displaying a 'waiting for images' message.
I've had loads of issues with hanging and slowness previously but this is the first time I've experienced the lock up the others have mentioned.Herman - MP for all!0 -
am on firefox and ie - yesterday i couldn't even get on this site it took so long to load.
froze my computer for almost 5 mins so i had to do an emergency shut down. only this site causes a screen freeze - and stops everything else working too. ran 2 scans and everything is clear so there's a problem here. today it took 1 and a half minutes to access. i am now mostly using other sites to access the info i normally glean here0 -
I'm running IE8 with WinXp Sp3 on a fibre optic connection and I have to admit I'm finding the site slow. With such a stable platform I should be whizzing around here but I'm not.0

Speed is still OK (not as good as most of the rest of the internet) but a new issue has risen.
Every time I use the browser back button on this site today whether logged in or not, it takes ma to the top of the page I was on and not as normal to the exact position on that particular page I was viewing.
eg. if I am viewing this forum (site feedback) and hit the back button to go to the main forum index, I end up right at the top of the page looking at the banner and it just stays there.
This happens every time no matter where I am viewing.0 -
Have you been tinkering again? the side bar is lagging behind again and if the thread is heavy with smileys, pictures or links withing the posts, it is definitely a few seconds slower to load.
At the risk of repeating myself, the g+1 button is still always the last to load.0 -
I have been having this problem for a while and thought it was my computer.Last night I changed my security settings to High (as recommended up there) and I lost some of my options on the green banner.I lost Community, Forum Search & Quick Links - so I could not access my subscribed threads. These were replaced with Members List, Search, Mark Forums Read & Open Contacts Pop Up.Has anyone else had this problem and how do you get round it as I don't want to have to keep changing my security settings.Thanks0

I'm on my mobile and I've always had problems with the forum being slow, I think because it's such a big site, it takes forever to load.
For the past few days though, a new, and I must say annoying problem has occured.
That ugly grey thing that's at top of page, that looks like an old fashioned radiator? It covers my sign in box. I had to go into my browser each time, and put it on single column view, sign in, then go back to normal view. That has been hit and miss, as the action of changing back often logs me off.
Can you take that 'radiator' off please? The pages are just too cluttered with stuff now, no wonder we're all finding it slow.
It got worse when they made Martin bigger.

Im sure the bods working on this problem must be doing it in their spare time, why else would it take over 3 months to sort it out,
If any of my customers had a problem that lasted over 3 months without any improvment i"d be for the boot.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
Hi barmonkey,
I'm sorry to hear you've seen no improvement. I've sent you a private message.
