Forum Incredibly Slow With IE

I don't visit MSE much now as it is so slow. It's the only site that I have problems with so I'm not changing my browser.
Any hope of this being sorted out soon?" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I'm on my mobile and I've always had problems with the forum being slow, I think because it's such a big site, it takes forever to load.
For the past few days though, a new, and I must say annoying problem has occured.
That ugly grey thing that's at top of page, that looks like an old fashioned radiator? It covers my sign in box. I had to go into my browser each time, and put it on single column view, sign in, then go back to normal view. That has been hit and miss, as the action of changing back often logs me off.
Can you take that 'radiator' off please? The pages are just too cluttered with stuff now, no wonder we're all finding it slow.
It got worse when they made Martin bigger.

I don't know how it works on a phone as I have never seen one but it could be that where you touch the screen to access the MSE site might be the same area as the colour banner.

Hi barmonkey,
I'm sorry to hear you've seen no improvement. I've sent you a private message.

Have you been tinkering again? the side bar is lagging behind again and if the thread is heavy with smileys, pictures or links withing the posts, it is definitely a few seconds slower to load.
At the risk of repeating myself, the g+1 button is still always the last to load.0 -
Hi john539,
The Google+ button has been removed from the bookmarks bar at the bottom on the thread.

The banner at the top is too large really. It's a particular problem with my netbook. However, I have to say that on my iPad 2, it is lightning quick.0

That has made a huge difference for me :T :T :T :T
We've been monitoring it for a while. It was occasionally taking a while to respond and in IE any one slow item on the page can delay the whole page load. It's not ideal for sites with a lot of content on the page to be honest but we're trying to accomodate it as best we can. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi all,
For those of you still experiencing a hang or freeze (as opposed to general slowness) when visiting the site for the first time after booting your machine, please can you try the following experiments:
1) On many systems there will be an option on the Start menu to load "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)". Please load Internet Explorer using this menu item and see if you still experience the same problem? Or does the problem go away?
2) Please try closing Internet Explorer and re-openning it again and visit the site again. Do you still experience the same problem? Or is it only after you reboot the machine that the problem returns?
Thanks in advance.
