I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit, IE 9 (compatibility view).

First log in is incredibly slow, further log ins slightly faster. But definitely nowhere near as fast as the site used to be.

If I disable add on's will that create further problems with programmes which use them?

Please try disabling your add-ons and see if that resolves the problem. There are some more detailed instructions in this post.

Maybe it's something you don't use? :). You won't know unless you find out which add-on it is. Once you know you can make an informed decision on whether turning it off will result in an improved internet experience for you or not. It can't help to experiment.

You were waiting to download an image. Every image you download involves s request over the internet which can be affected by problems on your computer, your ISP, any computer between you and us, or our servers.

We have worked hard to bring our site in line with best practices and - where possible - minimise the number of images you are downloading.

Now you have that image on your machine you will not need to download it again unless you clear your browser's cache or something is preventing your browser from caching images.

  • Just come onto the site and mine hung on static3.moneysavingexpert...etc.

I'm running Firefox on Vista with Avira and adblock.

It is only MSE that I've had this problem. It happens every time I come onto the site (my bookmark takes me straight to the Forums) so it must be an error on the site rather than my setup - mustn't it?

Please can you explain what you mean by "hung" in a little more detail? What happened? For how long?

    Hi all,

Please may I ask that when reporting a problem you include as much of the following information as possible. Having this information readily available really helps us to investigate your problem :).
    • Your operating system.
    • Your web browser.
    • What browser add-ons/extensions you have installed
    • Your anti-virus software.
    • The URL you visited when you experienced the problem.
    • The time you experienced the problem.
    • Whether the problem occurred once or more than once
    Thanks.

Sounds very much like the broken add-on issue. In which case the steps I linked to earlier should resolve your problem.

There are other browsers which are lighter and faster :).

i have used the suggestion in post 193 and will report whether it has made a difference the next time i start up the computer and log in to this site which will either be tonight or tomorrow.
as far as other browsers go i have tried them in the past and they havent made any noticable difference.
