I will tell you what has changed recently (for me anyway)
befor when i clicked on the forum address the page would start to load, usually the menu bar and martins pic at the top, then it would freeze the whole pc,
now when i click on the address the pc locks up even befor the previous page disapears. it then goes to the forum after about 50 secsWWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
I've just been redirected here as I have exactly the same issue. After years with no change to the system I suddenly have a problem with MSE ONLY.
Freeze in my case means simply clicking on the shortcur icon or typing into google and selecting a link or even clicking on a reminder message in Mozilla instantly locks the computer.
No keys work, cursor is frozen and it simply does not thaw, ever. The only way to clear is to force shutdown.
If I repeat this exercise exactly the same happens:mad::mad::mad::mad:
The only way I can avoid this is to deselect online viral checks in Kaspersky Pure but I'm not prepared to do that.
Just occaisionally as I'm about to shut down I have made connection and as long as I stay connected all is fine, but the next time back to freeze up.
Have just run fixit, it has worked for me for other unrelated issues in the past, will wait and see.
Windows 7 64bit.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Surely you are saying that it is your anti-virus program that is causing the freeze.
The Kaspersky Pure user guide tells you about aLIST OF ALLOWED URLS
A list of masks and addresses of web resources to which access is not blocked by the Kaspersky Lab application. The list of addresses is created by the user during application settings configuration.
It is up to you to configure these settings!
There only seems to be a handful of users having these issues and as they are not browser dependent and 99% have no problems, it is likely to be a user configuration problem.
The forum team can optimise their code to make small improvements but you can change the user settings on the programs that you chose to use. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

so why have you not amended your configuration settings to accept the changes that you know have been made to this site?
.
I am saying that an anti virus program that has worked perfectly well for over a year now doesn't like MSE?????
Tried to alter settings in KP but being a complete computer dork I reverted to default after cocking it all up.
Repeat again thios has only happened with MSE, I know another poster was having the same issue explaining why the hell does this occur only with MSE?????
Not a rant just trying to say why has something that needs technical ability invaded this site.
Plus as you have gathjered today I can access MSE after a flushing of microsoft fixit, well see.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Whatever - not a problem with this site though! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I'm one of your so called 1% thats having problems with the site.
Why you think it's only a handful when this threads had over 10,000 reads and 222 posts plus the other 3,700 reads and 81 posts is beyond me !
As explained on previous posts it happens on my PC, my laptop, my netbook and my works PC's as does DD's
Trying to fob it off as a user configeration problem doesn't wash with me ...bar the odd hiccup over the years I've been here as a member and also a lurker the site has been fine for me untill the dreaded update.
In fairness to the MSE team things have improved in recent days, they are working on it still and would hope that service will return to normal asap. It's not just about the money0 -
it didnt hang at all today.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0

Ive had the problem on a laptop that has no anti virus software.Interesting statement espresso.

This shows that you did not understand that the 'problem' that cyclonebri1 posted about was a different problem, hence my reply regarding his own configuration settings. You assumed that he was another user with the page load delay problem.cyclonebri1 wrote: »

I have not posted on this thread previously because I never use IE and have never had any problems with other browsers. I'm sure that lots have read this thread, simply to see what it's all about but that does not mean that they all have problems.
How many users have actually provided any useful feedback to the forum team to aid with their investigations? Not many when you consider the vast amount of posts made every day!
This site is obviously designed to lure in the visitors (guests) to become new active members (users) and as a regular forum user I find that it has grown to the point where there is far to much necessary clutter on the screen.
The first useful line for me is the breadcrumb trail:
Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > MoneySaving & The Site > Site Feedback > Forum Incredibly Slow With IE (Page 12)
The new 'modernised' site design with it's new fangled masthead does appear to have caused these problems for some users but these changes add absolutely no value to a regular forum user. It is however not likely to go back to how it was previous to it's launch because the forum team obviously know how much impact these changes have made from their site usage stats.it didnt hang at all today.
Likewise for me but I have never experienced any problems using various browsers on different machines - did you notice that smileys were unavailable yesterday and again today - presumably to check what impact smileys actually have on their servers.
I will leave this thread to those who are suffering as a result of the new design implementation. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
