Forum Incredibly Slow With IE

Hi all,

As the vast majority of people now appear to be happy with the speed of the forums in IE and other browsers, this thread "Forum Incredibly Slow With IE" will now be closed.

We've done a lot of work under the hood. Upgrading the engine that powers the site and bringing it in line with recognised best practices for optimising performance. There's still room for improvement but we think it's better.

I would like to thank users who have worked with us to identify which bits of the site were causing a problem for which bits of software. We couldn't replicate these problems at all so we've been heavily reliant on this help. Having a clear picture of these problems has enabled us to tweak our site to workaround them. Happily these tweaks - many of them - appear to have made a difference. Hopefully you won't notice any difference with the site. Except for the improved performance.

Previously I contacted every user in this discussion. If you have any questions about your particular case please feel free to send me a message. So I can give you a reply which is relevent to your specific problem as I have it recorded here.

We appreciate it's taken a while for us to get to this point and that has been a cause for frustration. But now we are here and the work is done we hope you will give the site a chance. This is a huge, busy site. We can't promise you stellar performance 100% of the time. But we continue to try . Thanks in advance.
