Ohhh i meant to say as well i think we are all so lucky that the board guides and everyone are open to suggestions on how best to manage the boards. another website i visit (claretsmad - burnley football club's fan site) the mods just lock threads they dont like and are sooooo over powering i stopped posting completely although i do visit it alot. xxxxxxx:j First prizes back into comping after a break - romantic break to 2 to Venice/ Paris or Rome with romantic trip and a 42 inch TV and blu Ray amazing !

everyone's in favour of having it all how it was before the comps started being moved,
so we get to keep the WOT's, etc that have been
being moved & keep them on main board
thank you diva :T
before any of those comps were moved people were discussing problems with regs, (why some were in mains, some posted direct to regs, some moved over etc) that's how it started, those issues would still not be resolved if it just all went back to how it was
some of the comps mentioned have changed format from once only entry to a daily entry so a definition on what is a reg is needed
and I understood it that regular entry meant a regular comp so should be in the regular board, even when I started as a BG no one told me there were exceptions, and when people got upset about some of the threads being moved to regs that had always been on main neither the team or BGs told me that wasn't the way, which is why I asked for a better description on the regs board
as it is the description is
For all regular competitions that happen more than once, that would otherwise get lost on the main competitions board amongst all the one-off comps
which I know may get changed after further discussion and/or a pollI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. The thing is, the discussion started in the first place because people were confused as everything was all scattered around both boards, so to me, that means it didn't really work the other way either?
If the daily, weekly and monthly threads basically act as a directory of the regulars board, that's 3 threads to check for new competitions?
I'm confused as it seems to be the dailies that are causing the most controversy about being moved, but it's been mentioned so many times that the daily thread is easy to use, I colour code newly added comps, so all that's needed is a quick scan of the thread for that colour and you'll find all of the newly posted ones whichever board they're on (providing they've been sent for me to add) but having them on the regulars makes more logistical sense because they are technically regulars, having them all in one place should stop the confusion of not knowing where to post them, or where to find them, so basically, if you can enter them multiple times, they go in the regulars with a link in the sticky?
I don't mean to stoke the fire so to speak, I'm just having trouble getting my head around what the problem is *confused look*0 -
While I am agreeing in the main with Divadees post, we are then just going back to the old status quo that it now appears not many people had been happy with.
It is implying to me that it is actually the BGs that need to decide and let us know which comps they are going to move. Then let us have a guide to which comps should be posted where. I also feel quite sorry for Glad who appears to have opened this debate up, but was only following the guidelines for which comps were Regs as they have always been implied.
I am very grateful that all the locked reg threads have been reopened, and that Glad took the time to check through them.
Another suggestion I would like to put forward is that an additional thread mainly for BGs information should be stickied in Regs, where members can copy post if an older reg thread, needs its title updating, has ended, etc - I noticed that sometimes a thread would be updated with new info in the post, but this would not be added to the title or op . Then whenever a BG has time, they would be able just to go into that thread, rather than plow through threads to see why they had been bumped.Im going to be blunt to you all now. This problem seems to stem from when certain daily comps started getting moved over to the regular board. We had not problems until that happened ie. the wotv, sci-fi etc.. comps.
I dont know why we couldnt go back to the old way and have those posted on the main board with the title E: 31/01 Daily entry win a tv. the monthly, weekly with no end date could stay on the regular board as they have been for years with no problems.
Those who state I dont have time to look on regular board so would prefer them to be on the main board, are just weird! where will you suddenly get the time from just cos they are posted on the main board. Are you that time pressed you cant click one additional button to take you to the regular board where you can enter from there???? The same comps would be on the main board so you would still need additional time to enter all of them!!
I think the best solution is to go back to how they were. The daily ones with end dates and different questions be posted on the main board and all the regulars stay where they are.
Also if we got rid of the regular board altogether it would be a lot more muddles on the main board with all monthly and weekly and daily mixed in with standard end date ones.

Bargainhuntergal, I'm with you on this one. I don't understand how the regulars board is confusing at all. I think perhaps people who find it difficult haven't actually used it because it is exactly the same as entering comps from the main board - click on a link, add your details et voila!
Sombody mentioned "trawling through" the regs boards for comps - surely it is more difficult to trawl the main board for newly posted dailies? If they don't have "daily" in the title, how on earth do you search for them? If they do have "daily" in the title, does the search function always pick it up?
I don't recall complaints about the advent sticky being confusing and yet it was more complicated to use than the regulars board has ever been.
I'm all for people choosing their own way to comp but I think it is rude to dismiss the regulars board off-hand if you haven't a least given it a good try. Gilla, BHG and PPD work their a**es off keeping it all up to date and I am grateful because without those boards, I doubt I'd enter the regulars at all.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

Great idea! :T
I know what you mean about feeling sorry for Glad in all of this, I'm so sorry that she's taken the brunt of everyone's anger and frustration, but it just shows the fact that Glad as a BG thought that all the regulars were supposed to go in the regulars, surely means that it was confusing not just for us, but for the BG's too??
I completely agree about the unlocked threads, that was a huge job and Glad ploughed through them all, updated them and unlocked them!! :A Having the locked threads made the regulars seem so closed off, at least now we can post an update on a thread, ie. a new link, a new answer, a new prize, when needed.0 -
For what its worth I total agree with DIVA, why change something that is not broke.
It is only confusing matters, especially with those that dont venture into the regular boards.Im going to be blunt to you all now. very well said purplebutterfly!
i posted in the comps discussion thread last night about not being able to understand why people could use advents but are insistant they cant use dailies....mostly no one has answered (one answer being the daily, weekly and monthly threads are a mess).
diva and everyone else saying it wasnt borken before so leave it alone...the issue is it WAS broken before, the what counts as reg and should go on reg board has come up repeatedly in the 18months ive been comping. see glads post above!
i think many people are being very quick to judge, and not actually paying any attention to the implications. which is a shame, it would be nice if we could have a post listing all the options for which comps count as regulars and then a decision be made having looked at the advantages and disadvantages to each option. sadly many people on here are not prepared to even consider weighing it up and trying something slightly different to what they are used to.
and i for one am extremely grateful to gilla, ppd and now bhg for maintaining the regular threads so i dont have to keep my own database or folder and add/remove links myself as they expire or are posted. saves me a heap of time. im also extremely grateful to glad for listening and attempting to sort the problem of what is a regular and the regs board being ignored by many. im just sorry so many people are attacking her because its a slight change for them or they are making a decision without considering any other options.
given that actually using the reg board as it seems to be intended has never been tried people cant make an infomed decision over if we should keep it or not! Andrea/mse team/bgs please can we first have a specific deffinition of what counts as a regular and then that be enforeced for a few months trial before removing the regular board?
what counts as a regular
to me :
to be posted in regs and linked in the sticky threads
any thread that will require bumping with new answers, updated prizes, new names as winners etc
eg: sugarscape daily, company daily, hello vote for most stylish weekly comp facebook weeklies such as big yellow, carphone warehouse, phones for you, whereby the old link works for the new comp though prize and question have changed.
the magic and kiss threads would also have gone on regs as required bumping every hour, as would the regularly updated tab and puzzler threads (be easier to find them there though as only got to search through 25 pages of comps instead of 200odd)
also including the purchase required multi entry comps.
would work posted on main but linked in the sticky threads
any comp that will not require updating as has a specific end date and answer and prize stay the same throughout, extra entries are merely extra entries into the one overall prize draw but the comps dont use the same url and/or dont necessarily have a new one added with the same regularity, so the old url will not link to the new comp.sci fi online daily comps, wotv, nuts, femail and girl etc since all have different end dates, but need linking in dailies for those who wish to enter them more than once. (it seems these are the ones that have caused most upset by being moved as).0 -
I don't see the point in changing everything. People aren't posting competitions now, everyone is totally confused. Why can't people stop meddling and just keep things plain and simple. I don't even see the point in a regulars board when you can just have a sticked thread linking people to the dailies, weeklies and monthlies that are in the main forum. This whole fiasco seems to be an ego thing rather than an attempt at making the boards more organised.0
