Am i right in thinking the people that want monthly comps with an end date want it posted on the main board but then have a re-direct(it will say moved and there will be no post as such on the main board but you will see it and when you click on it it will take you to the thread on the regular board?) to the regular board?
If that's the case then it wouldn't work as you can only re0direct for
Don't see the point of having a re-direct from the main board to regulars for any comp as it only involves extra clicks for the vast majority of users and wastes valuable comping time
surely it would be better to have the comps on the main board with the re-direct in the stickies on the regulars board
I'm with you Darren for keeping things simple and ideally it would be better if all of the comps where together in one place on the main board0 -
Bring all the regulars back on to the main board and rename the regulars as the Twitter / Facebook comps as there is an issue with people who ignore to indicate these and there are alot of people on here who are not signed up to these sites.#THANKYOUSIRALEX0

A problem that seems to be cropping up is how best to deal with REGULAR, ONGOING (no known end date) comps that have the SAME URL/PRIZE/QUESTION every time if the regulars board was scrapped. Examples are Strada, Cartmel Puddings (both monthly), Easyplant, itiswhatitis (both weekly) and Watches Shop (daily). There wouldn't be much of an issue posting the monthly ones anew every month, but the weeklies is more of a problem and I don't see anybody wanting the Watches Shop comp posted anew every day!
If these comps were posted on the main board as E: 31/13 or E: 32/12 or even E: 99/99 am I right in thinking these would never be moved to Game Over? (I accidently posted a comp with E: 31/11 and it was still live in January). If this is the case they would remain on the main board and would eventually be on the last pages of it. The appropriate index in the regular stickies (which would be retained and moved to the main board) would contain a link to the thread on the main board and the problem would be solved.0 -
idea for a poll
1 - would you like one board for all comps (no regular board but possibly sticky threads for reg comps)
2 - are you happy with the 2 boards as they are
3 - would this be a compromise to try and please people who want a regs board and people who dontI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I agree with 1 and 2 but the third option is really not much different from what a lot of people are objecting to at present I:E post's being moved from main to regulars and would not bring back the posters that have dropped out of posting and for this reason alone, I feel that this would not be the ideal compromise0 -
idea for a poll
1. Do you use the regulars board on a regular basis ie: every day/week/month.
2. Would you prefer the monthly comps only to be posted on the main board.
3. Should all comps be posted on the main board with a link to be posted in Regulars.
4. Should we just keep the Daily Regular thread & not the other two.
............
there's quite a few suggestions on this thread for the idea's for the poll
perhaps be a good idea to put them all in one 'post' then everyone can see them all without having to search through all the postsplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -

good ideas korky
except 3. as if all comps were on main board there wouldn't be a regulars board so maybe it should read 'link in a sticky' insteadI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. sorry but it's bringing loads of them back to the main board??
most of those compers posted weekly/monthly comps which I've suggested would be on the main board so it's exactly what they wantI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. It doesn't take any more clicks if a redirect is left to a post that has just moved boards, as far as I could tell it works the same as clicking a normal post would (I've tested this out on another board where they were moved posts)
The issue with extra clicks is if a post is merged into something like the Comps discussion the redirect takes you to the beginning of the thread.A problem that seems to be cropping up is how best to deal with REGULAR, ONGOING (no known end date) comps that have the SAME URL/PRIZE/QUESTION every time if the regulars board was scrapped. If they were all on the main board, could they still be indicated as daily weekly and monthly by having, W: or M: infront instead of E:? In thread title view (end date view) it would mean going past the
section before getting to the E: section, but at least the comps are defined on their titles in a way that's easy to see because it will be in the same place each time? And it would also take up less title space by not having the words DAILY, WEEKLY and MONTHLY in them? Maybe even an indicator of which type they were could be added with it? So like I've set out the daily thread as 'Daily Prize Draw', 'Instant Win' and 'Extra Entries' you could have 'DPD' 'IW' and 'EE' in the title?
I know people have mentioned that this thread was made so that suggestions for a poll could be added, but at least chucking in ideas for possible options means that more people see them (not many people joined in on the comps discussion thread) and ideas can be thoroughly considered before a poll is made.0 -
My idea for a poll
1) would you like the Regulars board moved over to main with the stickies being left as they are but on the main board and all comps being posted all in one place
2) would you like the regulars board to remain but all regular comps with an end date posted on the main board and linked to the stickies on the regulars board with all regular comps without an end date remaining on the Regulars board
3) would you prefer that the Regulars board stays as it is now0
