  • Hi everbody...

I am always catching up on all the comps that are posted, i am now using the regular board more now because there seem to be more revelant competitions on there now.

I like the main board because its simple and easy to use.

But i think for the regular board, newbies can find it of putting and confusing, but now i am more advanced i seemed to be more able to get to grips with the regular board.

I bookmark the spin the wheel comps etc the main important ones i want.

sorry but it's bringing loads of them back to the main board??
most of those compers posted weekly/monthly comps which I've suggested would be on the main board so it's exactly what they want :)

I agree Glad but it's the daily comps like What's on - Sci Fi and Nuts etc that people are objecting to most and they don't like them being moved over to regs

I take it that these would still be left on the Regulars board? if so this would not appease the posters who have dropped out of posting comps much to the detriment of everyone

If all of the weeklies and monthlies (bar ongoing ones) were on the main board posted new each time there'd only be about 5 or 6 pages of dailies on the regulars board and then the ongoing monthlies would be after them all in thread title view so it would be much easier to handle?

Edited to add: The issue at the moment is that the regular posters that are dropping out think that not many people see the comps on the regulars board? If there were only around 5 or 6 pages (and mainly only one type of comp on them) then I reckon more people would be prepared to have a go at using it which would mean that more people would see it on the regulars and would maybe stop the problem of not many people seeing it?

Just an idea but as there are a vast amount of suggestions for the way forward for the regulars board maybe instead of having a poll there could be a survey with multiple choices

everyone could make 2 or even 3 choices from the ideas put forward with the idea that has the least votes dropping out with the others going forward to be voted on again until there is only one clear winner

a bit like what was done with the voting in the Labour leadership

    idea for a poll

1 - would you like one board for all comps (no regular board but possibly sticky threads for reg comps)

2 - are you happy with the 2 boards as they are

3 - would this be a compromise to try and please people who want a regs board and people who dont

I am not sure that one poll could be formed that would settle all of the questions but that Glad's proposals here would be best for an initial poll.

Personally, I think that Glad's post that option 3 links to is the best initial solution but with the weeklies being treated in the same way as the dailies. If a poll did show option 3 as the most popular, then there may be another poll required to determine which way the weeklies should be dealt with.

While I agree bhg that the regs board would be a lot easier to use if the above ideas where implemented

I honestly don't think that it would matter how many pages where left on the regulars board most people would still not visit from main as they say that they don't like/have time to visit the two boards and this is the main reason that they object to daily/weekly post's being moved from the main board into regulars and why they have dropped out of posting :(

from what I can gather it's nothing to do with there comps not being seen or the lack of thanks that that entails although I would imagine that this in some small way is also part of the equation

I have decided that I am now going to refrain from making any further comment or enter into any more debate in this thread as this thread was provided by Andrea to put forward ideas for a poll and most of the comments being made including some by me are off topic and are just a continuation of the debate in comps discuss

i's a great shame that the vast majority of compers have only just become part of the debate that has raged in comps discuss for nearly 2 months and already they are being asked for there opinions for a poll to implement changes to the Regulars board

if you are reading this Andrea this is the main reason that this thread has gone off topic as the newcomers to the debate want to make there voices heard and have there say before any major poll takes place

The question was what do you want in a poll, but it seems that the majority want it to go back to the way it was and I agree.

I don't look at the regular board as it is all I can do to keep up with the main board.

Just a suggestion, but could the techies put in another sort button to allow regulars to be a filter rather than another location, that way titles could include the daily/ weekly/ monthly information.

Thnaks to everyone who put so much effort into this.
    Thanks to all who post:j

I think people are over complicating this, i think we need 2 potential polls, the first one being -

Do we need a Regular Competition sub board?

If the result of this one is yes, then we need -

    1. Do we want regular competitions posted solely on the Regular sub board?

    2. Do we want regular competitions posted on the Main board with a link to the Regular sub board?

Personally, i think we do need a Regular sub board, i only use the daily part, but i have no idea how to subscribe to a comp, already have loads of folders saved in my favourites, and dont really have time to look after my family, work, eat, live and comp with the added extra work that getting rid of the Regular sub board (and here i have to add a huge THANK YOU to those compers who keep them running, you are stars!).

For the second poll, i think the second option is the best one, that way everyone gets to see all conmps, and those compers who do enter the regulars comps still have them in one place.

Thank for the thread...I enter from the main board everyday and today is the first day I realised there was a regular comp section! I enter by end date and just thought there were very few competitions this month and that is probably why this is looking like a terrible month for me. Surely I'm no the only one as that would be very embarrassing!
