The problem with saying that is that people give the ongoing comps an end date, so therefore they get posted on the main board and then get game overed and then posted again when they've gone to game over even though they are ongoing, I'm thinking of things like Watches Shop (when that reopens I'm going to get the old post bought back to the regulars as 'E: DAILY Win a watch with Watches Shop') and Trippin Nomad here (they get posted seperately with end dates, but they don't have end dates because they finish when they've all been won?)
I know keeping it simple has been mentioned, the simplest way is anything that can be entered more than once is a regular??
But your alienating a lot of the compers and posters by taking that definition if you want them to give, then you have to as well and compromise, neither side can get everything they want, I just posted what I see as a compromise and what you said about comps being ongoing, well surely if Watches Shop's not open right now it's closed and so therefore by definition not ongoing currently and so should have had an end date but thats just nit-picking and not really relevant to this discussion.
There are always going to be grey areas in whatever we decide, there will always be comps that can go either way on a rule, we just have to make the best of it, make sure as many compers see the comps as possible (if not, what are they posted for?) and get on with our lives dont we? What I suggested seems simplest to me and those I discuss with and would create few grey areas and best of all allow both sides to keep comping in a way that suits themJust become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034

You know what, I think we're all pulling different ways on the definition because we all class regulars differently:
- some class regulars as ones that you can enter regularly;
- some class regulars as ones that add comps regularly;
- some class them both as regular

It's not on at the moment because they're changing their site around, if it comes back in the same guise as before, it won't have an end date unless they decide to pause it again for some reason but we won't know they're going to pause it until closer to that date so when it's posted, it won't have an end date.

I agree nothing is going to suit everyone, and I wasn't trying to alienate people, I was just trying to explain what I've seen happen before. The main reason I've noticed these things is when trying to find the posts to link to the regulars, that's why a lot have temporary links, I'm trying to get the most recent old post bought back from game over as an ongoing, even things like Dorset Cereals and Gu Puds, whilst they do have an end date, they always get extended once the end date passes.
That's all I was trying to do, explain what I've seen when going through the threads to link in to the daily thread.
Edited to add: Whilst I've been entering those comps for ages, the reason I noticed the threads were in game over now is because I was using direct links from my bookmarks.

I understand what you mean now but I still dont see the problem in them being put on GO if they were already linked on the daily thread?
That Gu one of mine has been in and out of Game Over since about a month after I first posted it, now they just change the year on it when they update it so I leave if as E: 31/12 as they state that as the end date and after talking with the people at Gu about the comp in December there were no set plans to extend it for this year so I hadn't asked for it to be resurected again this year (I'm not entering choc comps this year, won too much last!lol) and I just went and found the thread in GO and the link still works so I dont really see the problem at all when they get extended just ask a BG to move the few that are back, Divadee has always moved that one for me without any problemJust become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034

I know what you mean, but I thought for people that don't want to use the daily thread that it should be an active post somewhere?
I'll expand on the other post about the definition (with examples) when I've got a little more time, but maybe that's the first place to start with a poll?0 -

- Maybe as a seperate category but in the same sort of vein (entering regularly via the same link) things like Sci-fi-online and Nuts and What's on TV as these as whilst it's also one that adds comps regularly, they can be entered regularly too.
- some class regulars as ones that add comps regularly to their site; (via a different link and you only enter each one once) so again, with the dailies this would be things like Company?
- some class them both (or all now I've made more categories) as regular So because they both add comps regularly and you can enter regularly?
I've got a few minutes so thought I'd try and expand a little on my previous post. I'm using dailies as examples at the moment but will try and find some examples with the others too later.0 -
Perhaps I'm being too simple but I wanted to give my pennies worth.
Surely there's a method of stating on a competition thread if it's a regular. I too think regular's should be on the main board, thus some sort of signature which can be copied/embedded on to each competition thread for that specific (regular) competition to ascertain it is a regular and is also present on the main board, so check your thanks to determine if you've entered (or not). Surely that would solve the ongoing difficulties where regulars are concerned?
And yes, I think if we don't have a poll on this, this thread is going to get overloaded and out of control :rotfl:0
