As requested earlier, PLEASE look at the regulars board before you condemn it.
How is reading a list of comps in one single post a "trawl"? Searching every single day for new regular posts is a trawl.
It is really annoying me now that people are knocking it before trying it and therefore being incredibly insulting to Gilla, BHG and PPD - they spend ages collating all the comps into one thread so that we don't have to look any further than the stickies!
Honestly, it is one post on a stickied link with every daily comp listed. The sticky is always at the top of the page. You managed to find this sticky thread so it beats me why you can't find any other
I dont think anyone is knocking the 3 sticky threads, we just want the posts those 3 threads lead to to be left on the main comping forum, for the last few months they've been moved over to the regs board and removed from the main one so fast that some people who dont go on there haven't seen them posted where we all used to before this happened, as far as I can see this is the main problem which has caused all of this, no-one is knocking those three threads nor their amazing OPs who keep track of themJust become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034

Exactly Munchkim, quoted from my post in Discussions "The Daily, Weekly and Monthly list threads are NOT the issue here, most of us would like to keep those. It's the moving of comps from the Main board to the Regular board that is causing the upset."That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free0 -

I agree with what you are saying about keeping the comps on the main board but with links to regulars - that is the way I'd prefer it.
I'm just frustrated with comments about the regular boards from people who've never used themLiving with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

I can understand your frustration but I think they mean the bit underneath the stickies, where all these comps are being hidden away and not the stickies on there, if you go and look at the posts on there without looking at those stickies it is actually quite intimidating sometimes and I do use it and have done for a couple of years now and I'm not trying to frighten anyone, if anything i've been trying to promote a middle ground for both sides on here today.
I also get what you say about the time thing but imagine you've not been comping long, you can spare an hour or so a night, wouldn't you prefer to look at everything on one forum rather than on one forum and then some more that have been moved over to a child board as well, wouldn't you say you didn't have time for that in that situation too? I think sometimes we get so set in our ways and have made comping so easy for ourselves in some area's we forget how hard and time consuming it was for us when we first started upJust become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034

I'm still not sure how moving to a different board takes more itme though? I'm not trying to be obnoxious, I just genuinely don't understand.
Anyway, enough of that. I'm a little hormonally challenged at this time of the month and likely to start a rant about chocolate:rotfl:
It seems everyone is more or less in agreement about wanting comps to stay on the main board with a link to a regular sticky.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
ok if the sticky regular threads are not the issue can someone please explain WHY posting things in reg board instead of on main, or moving them across is an issue? if people are suing those threads then it doesnt matter where the comps are posted as the link in the thread will take you there.
IF the regular board was used properly, and all regular comps where posted on it and linked in the proper thread then no one has to do anything other than look at those threads.
the time thing is a load of rubbish (sorry but it is), people are objecting to change....because for years there ahs been not enough bgs to actiually do all the bg stuff like move posts that should be in regs over. as so far there is no clear deffinition of regular form the mse team then the bgs have to apply it according to what they (as a team) class as a regular comp.
IF everyone tried using it and all regs went in there then people would either go and look for new comps or not bother in the same way some people dont bother with postals, its choice.
if after its been tried for a while people still want all the regular comps on main then f/e but most are knocking the use of the regular board merely because its slightly different for SOME comps namely sci fi and wotv.
but all of you saying you dont have time to check one more board....you do realise dont you that an extra 100-200 posts on main every day will require heaps more time for going through comps on mian board?
and since many is condeming things without even a seconds thought or reason i give up. logic gets us no where when people are not prepoared to bend even a milimeter form their im right attitude and consider compromise.
edited to put this here too:
yeah apologies to those who have compromised or are prepared to do so...i didnt mean to lump everyone into that statement. just incredibly frustrated at all the people saying no to the regs board and refusing to post cause comps are getting moved to the regs board when they havent even tried using it.0 -
main board for me please. areading this thread i am shocked to discover that if someone has posted something on main site that happens to be a regular comp that comp has been removed from main board. no wonder i can't find them!0

quite honestly no! when i first started comping i found main massive and daunting. then i found the postal thread and stayed in there and no where else for a while. then i explored regulars and started entering comps on those lists as there were far less than the 200plus pages of comps on main. it was a good few months after id gotten into those routines that i started to look at main at all.
20plus pages of comps to go though and enter or 200plus pages on main....20 = less daunting0 -

im sorry, but just because not every one agrees with you, doesnt warrant this type of comment, and it is this type of comment that starts arguments.
as far as i have read, people are "bending" in the coming up of new suggestions0
