    My idea for a poll

    1) would you like the Regulars board moved over to main with the stickies being left as they are but on the main board and all comps being posted all in one place

    2) would you like the regulars board to remain but all regular comps with an end date posted on the main board and linked to the stickies on the regulars board with all regular comps without an end date remaining on the Regulars board

    3) would you prefer that the Regulars board stays as it is now

I agree with Amilucky with regards to poll!

i always comp by end date and wandered where a lot of the comps had disapeared to!
I think all comps with an end date should be on the main board with link to regulars.
I have used regulars board and i dont understand if the links are in the main parts why cant the comp be put on the main board for the people who dont have time to go through all the different parts of the board

First, i havnt read everything so sorry if this has been asked and answered but -

What was the original problem? From what i can see, most people are saying 'if its not broke', but then the odd comment is, then the original problem is still there. Im just wondering what the original problem was?

am sure the original problem was

    #1233

& grannybikers WOTV's, sci-fi etc, being moved straight into regs
instead of being left on main board

    this one

    #68

    #45

    #7

    #419

again so many posters saying the regular board is pointless as they dont use it. I cant see that argument as you havent used the regular board so how can you know its pointless???

I also cannot believe some of you are so lazy that clicking one more link stops you from entering the competitions listed on the regular board! That is just sheer laziness to the extreme lol.

If we closed the reg board and it was all transferred onto here, you would all be moaning that you have all this extra comps to wade through that are only monthly, weekly etc... This is why the reg board was started as people were moaning and that was when we had 50 pages max of comps all in!!!

I still think the fair solution is to move back all the comps with an end date to the main board and leave the true 'regulars' on the regulars board. end of arguments in my eyes.

YES YES YES YES YES......:T WELL SAID !!!

If you dont use the regulars board... Just IGNORE IT

but all of you saying you dont have time to check one more board....you do realise dont you that an extra 100-200 posts on main every day will require heaps more time for going through comps on mian board?

I just can't see this - there are 117 comps in BHG's daily index, of which less than 10 require a post each day and would cause a thread to be bumped (and not a new thread). In addition there are about 5 brand new daily comps each day which would need a new thread. There would be almost no effect on the main board. You also said that provided the links in the stickies were maintained it didn't matter where the comps were posted, as you just click on the link to get there - so it would be OK for them to be on the main board?

Sorry to ask this dim question but why do we need a regular board? 4.gif

ummm, my understanding is the Regs board was for comps that you could regularly enter, either for extra entries or extra prizes. The main board was for comps which were single entry/prizes. this was ti keep the main board tidier I thought.

I know there were always a few that slipped through the net, but I'd never see these until they had nearly finished as I comp by End Date
I've been here about 4 years & I've never used it, it does seem pointless to me.

I was very similair, but because of all the discussion I made an effort to go over there and have a look at the board. TBH it only took me a similair amount of time to go through the entire board as doing end of month comps does. Now thanks to bhg, ppd and Gilla highlightening new reg comps in the stickies I know when a tread has been added there.

I thought i would forget to go back there daily, so I just made a bookmark direct to regs, alongside my normal comps bookmark.

I never bothered with regs before, but that was my choice, as I was previously satisfied with the comps in main.

What amazes me is that thankfully lots of people do managed to click up to the IWIW section, yet Regs is a click too far.

I think its worthwhile any longer term member having a look at regs again with an open mind, because Glad and the Stickies Gang have worked really hard at tidying it up, and making it more user friendly.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

I hardly ever go to the regulars board... as I find it confusing...

This might not make much sense writing it down, but I'll give it a try:
I don't enter comps that are "daily" but for one price only. For example a comp that ends on the 30th, but you can enter each and every day until the 30th with only one prize to be won in the draw on that day. However, I do wish to enter daily comps where there's a daily entry, but with a daily prize!

So, I get confused on the regulars board... not wanting to keep re-entering each day for only one prize, and on the main link there there's not really an explenation if something is daily for daily prize, or daily for one prize drawn sometime in the future.

Same goes for weekly - one entry a week - one prize a week = I'd love for it to be on the main board so I'd remember to enter it each week (in the hope someone would bump it when it comes to next entry time... like the Ford comp recently!)... but I cannot be bothered (yes, sheer lazyness!) to try to figure out which comps are like that on the regulars board.

Anyway... just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone here... for posting comps and for helping out!

I'm in the same boat as mulle above me really - I like new comps with new prizes, but I don't bother with one where there's a single prize at the comp end but you can re-enter every single day for an "extra entry".

For me personally (everyone has their own views and is entitled to them, we're not all identical and won't all agree) - the main board should have "regular" competitions in with a new thread for an entirely new competition (one that's not related to an already running "reg"), and that's that.

For dailys where it's a different daily question with a different daily prize - I think that would warrant a "bump" to the thread (a new post with that day's question/answer/prize in) - likewise weekly's could be "bumped" if it was necessary - but I think the bumping isn't necessary really.

If a list is maintained of those regulars - either by the individuals ourselves (eg if I see a new "regular" appear on the main board that says daily, I could bookmark it myself in to my "Dailys" bookmark folder, in which I can bookmark all dailys and just click "Open all in tabs" once a day on that folder to quickly pull up all the dailys I want) or by somebody willing to maintain a thread (as currently happens) with links to those dailys, then people can always refer back to those regulars with ease, without needing a thread being bumped every day/week/month to remind them they can enter again that day/week/month (although given how few weeklies and monthlies there are in comparison to how many brand new comps get posted every single day on the main board, I don't think allowing them to be bumped would make any impact at all on the main board).

Ultimately though I don't visit the regulars board, and while it'd be a shame to miss entire new competitions because they're being dragged in to the regulars board if anything's ever posted on the main board that is anything other than a "single entry single prize end of competition", it's not the end of the world for me - if I don't have the time to trawl through the regulars board too, then tough luck on me.

    Edit:
I should point out that I only ever visit the main board by "New Topic View" - which means bumping has no impact on me at all - and I browse back through all the unread threads page by page opening up the comps that interest me, and then "mark forum read" so I can quickly find where I was last up to on my next visit. I don't know how many other people use the forums in this manner, but it might make a difference to how you view the way in which the board should or should not work. Standard view (where threads are ordered by the last reply) can be a lot messier to manage your comps than "New topic view" :P
