I've been here about 4 years & I've never used it, it does seem pointless to me.
im the same ive never once used it why dont they just keep all the comps in the main board..
Can't sleep, quit counting sheep and talk directly to the shepherd
  • logic gets us no where when people are not prepoared to bend even a milimeter form their im right attitude and consider compromise.

Oh, I don't know about not bending a milimeter - I think plenty of folk have been given an inch, yet taken a full mile ;)

  • yeah apologies to those who have compromised or are prepared to do so...i didnt mean to lump everyone into that statement. just incredibly frustrated at all the people saying no to the regs board and refusing to post cause comps are getting moved to the regs board when they havent even tried using it.

again so many posters saying the regular board is pointless as they dont use it. I cant see that argument as you havent used the regular board so how can you know its pointless???

I also cannot believe some of you are so lazy that clicking one more link stops you from entering the competitions listed on the regular board! That is just sheer laziness to the extreme lol.

If we closed the reg board and it was all transferred onto here, you would all be moaning that you have all this extra comps to wade through that are only monthly, weekly etc... This is why the reg board was started as people were moaning and that was when we had 50 pages max of comps all in!!!

I still think the fair solution is to move back all the comps with an end date to the main board and leave the true 'regulars' on the regulars board. end of arguments in my eyes.

Just have to say, whoever said they posted comps with no end date as "E: 31/12 Win Whatever (DAILY)" and just got it bought back each year.....I think that is a brilliant!

That and the stickies staying somewhere and Glads compromise would be a reasonable way forward for me. Only problem is it may leave to alot of work for the BGs on 1st Jan....but maybe we could say (CONTINUOUS DAILY) instead of (DAILY) for those so they knew not to move them out?
  • I am more of a quite comper than a regular poster and fully appreciate the effort that people put into posting the competitions and sorting threads out do.

I do ending when I have the time and rarely go into the regular sections (not because it daunts me but simply because I like the way that I enter)

It seems a real shame that because of a couple of people that all this has happened.

I think it was absolutely fine the way it was and if posters are no longer posting then thats a real shame.

To be fair it seems to have caused more issues than anything so probably best to leave it the way it was.

It wasn't broke so why fix it??

I like MunchKims suggestion - it seems fair for everyone. The problem is that there are so many different ways of comping that it is hard to see others POV. I comp by end date, and I use the Dailys sticky every day. Ocassionally I use weekly/monthly sticky if I have the time.
Having all the comps moved onto one board scares the hell out of me - can you imagine how long comps ending 30th/31st would be?

I also LOVE Babymoos idea of having a thread for 'Creative/Effort Comps' - I know I miss out on loads because I haven't seen the post in time. Maybe this could be maintained in the same way as the daily thread?

  • Hi everyone! :hello: I quite like the regulars board. The way I comp is that I always enter the dailies (every day funnily enough!) and then I will work through the main board. I haven't really mastered searching by end date yet so I will just go through the most recently posted until I run out of new comps. I would miss out on any dailies unless someone bumped them every day.

If the posts were kept in the main thread with the dailies/monthlies boards linking to these posts then hopefully everyone would be happy as they would be fully searchable etc?

Well done to everyone who puts in work on this board. You are all :starmod::starmod::starmod:

Firstly I,d like to thank all posters and board guides,
I only use the main board, hardly venture into the dailies, weeklies, and didnt even know there was a regular board, so i,m going to have a look for it now. Lots of people, have different ways of doing it, or anything for that matter, so no way will all people be placated they,ll just keep on doing it the way they want cos thats the way theyre comftable with, and I dont think that applies just to comping.

ONGOING DAILY uses less letters ;):D :rotfl:

As a reply to the thread as a whole...

Basically, the daily, weekly and monthly threads link to comps that can be entered either daily (or as much as you like), weekly or monthly, regardless of whether they're ongoing or have an end date, the threads are about how many times you can enter each competition.

What do other people class as a regular?

Is it when you can enter it? Or is it when the comps get posted on the websites?

Personally I think the simplest way to define each competition is how many times it can be entered.

The Daily Mail bag comp was mentioned, although it's on every week I don't consider it to be either a daily or a weekly, to be a daily it would have to be so that you could enter it everyday and to be a weekly it would have to be open for the whole week.

But these are my own personal opinions on it and the simplest way I can find to explain it, and I appreciate not everyone thinks the same, which is why I'm asking for people to explain their own thinking of it.
