I still think the fair solution is to move back all the comps with an end date to the main board and leave the true 'regulars' on the regulars board. end of arguments in my eyes.

Gee thanks, I'm so lazy.
I don't and never have done a reg. comp. more then a couple of time. I prefer to come across them during my normal roam around the main board, enter and leave it. If they only go on the regs. then I for one would miss them all. I'll go hide back in my corner now. _pale_

If that is what ends up happening then something that is fair for the regular compers needs to be put in place or we're back to square one

For example:
1) if something is posted in regulars instead of the main board (for whatever reason) request it be moved to the main board rather than just reposting it so more can see it. That would avoid the regular compers duping because there are 2 posts
2) I'm thinking more along the lines of the Bonkers type ones here that end up on the main board (eg daily with known end date) any regular HAS to be posted onto the bottom of the sticky thread when someone notices it is a regular. Like I mentioned on pg 1 there would probably need to be a system to save everyone having to check if it was there. eg "this is a regular, posted to sticky, LINK"

as said from the very begining of all the debate, this is all we were asking that the comps with end dates were stopped being moved off the main board into the regs before peeps had a chance to see/enter them, it all then escalated into debates about the regs threads, do we need them , they needed sorted out,
etc,

this is the beginning of the original debate about it..

Maybe if those of us who dont use the regulars had it properly explained rather than it looking so daunting it would be easier? Just a suggestion.

The point that most people seem to be making is that the comps to be posted on the main board with a link posted on the lists threads and not just on the regulars board.

Some of the confusion seems to be because people are misinterpreting the stickies as the regs board when they read a post from someone.

Anyway, I thought this thread from Andrea was supposed to be so people could put their suggestions not to continue the discussion from the comps discussions thread.

Poor old Glad must be running round in circles trying to keep up to date with all the discussion posts.

Personally I think it would be best to let Glad, the other BGs and MSE towers look at everything that's been written so far and maybe they could summarise and do a straw poll so we can have a better informed debate.

But like I just said above, go back to EXACTLY how it was before and there's still problems. Just because the unhappy people from regulars didn't shout as loud doesn't mean they should be totally ignored (I'm not saying this is what you mean I'm just making a point). If we end up doing that then some simple rules like I mentioned above (there's probably more) need to be put in place so that the regular compers aren't having to bend 100% of the way while the non regular compers get their own way completely )

What was the original problem? From what i can see, most people are saying 'if its not broke', but then the odd comment is, then the original problem is still there. Im just wondering what the original problem was?

There were probably more because I'm just an occasional regular comper (if that's not a complete contradiction in terms)

I think in the main people just wanted a definition of a regular and any rules enforced so there was some consistency.

Then trying to resolve that problem simply by abiding by what was already written more comps started to be moved to regulars which caused the things Korks mentioned below.
