I got my phone in September, cancelled the insurance in November and got written confirmation etc. Today I got a letter saying that direct debit for my phone insurance has been set up, payment going out on 28th Dec and the 28th of each month after that. I've checked my statements and I haven't paid anything, so I'm guessing this letter was sent in error. Has the same happened to anyone else?

This happend to me I rang the bank stopped the DD just to be on the safe side then rang the insurance people and explained that I had cancelled the insurance in the first month and I had stopped the DD, and that it felt like they were pressuring me to take the insurance. Big apology from the lady on the other end of the phone. She said computer error was the cause.

Yes I used the 08700429066 number. I know it is expensive but I have had the run around on some of the other numbers. when you ring they give you a options menu but cant remember which number it was. the message will say press ... to track your cash back claim, or words to the effect of.

My cash back isn't here today but ironicly my orange bill is so I will have to send it in tonight.

I will let you know when mine arives

I finally gave up after no responses to my several emails to different addresses, and used the 0870 number. I got the same sort of story as you, that my cheque had been raised and had either been sent or was going out this week? The lady also made a point that it was going second class post!

I'll also post when mine arrives.
  • Can anyone confirm if they have successfully claimed cashback using summary (i.e. non-itemised) Vodafone bills from Coolnewmobile?

I ask because the T&Cs say:
"We therefore recommend that you pay your bills on time and do not cancel or take a summary itemised bill from the network."

I assume that this is to ensure that the bill has name, address, mobile no and tariff details on it, but I have never had a Vodafone contract so do not know if these details are included on their summary bills.
    Up Tipp!
  • It came this morning. My £72 hand written cashback cheque landed on the door mat. Yippeee. They will probably have recieved my 4th claim today. must check that later.

Just checked the post mark on the envelope and the woman who on the 26th feb said my cheque had been posted mid last week is telling big fibs. post mark date is 27th feb.

Congratulations, hopefully your luck will rub off on me.

Hurrrah! My cheque arrived today, although interestingly it was dated 15th February, which would have been nearly on time.

  • Awaiting my second claim of £72.00. All was well with the first. The second started well with appropriate e-mail acknowledgment but no cheque. The 28 day window expired on the 20th Feb 07. I gave them the benefit for 10 days but still nothing. Todat 3rd Mar 07 I e-mailed them for an explanation. Will have to eait and see. It's in their interest to hang on to the money for as long as possible, they make a stack on the interest. They are now exploiting our goodwill to the extreme. I will be surprised if I get all my cashback, I suspect that they will liquidate the company in the near future and start again under another name. It's still early days but I am beginning to feel uncomfortable sensation of a scam in progress.
Too quick to judge! Got my cheque 2 days after ringing them. They say they are extremely busy at this time of the year. Doesn't excuse their departure from the T&C's but I am now re-assured.

Since I got the cashback so tragedically wrong, don't ask it involves forgetting November!!!, I am going to need some hand holdingly obvious advice on what happens at the end of the year's contract. The contract began on 04/08/06 with vodaphone sooo when do I cancel and who with?

That's an expensive mistake (unless you were planning to getting a contract anyway)

The minimum term for your contract will end on 3/08/07. It is up to you to cancel or else it will continue running. If you don't want to continue with your contract you should write your letter in month 11 (giving them the 30 days notice that you wish to cancel) to tell Vodafone that you wish to cancel your contract at the end of the 12 month minimum term.
