There is no requirement to use recorded delivery; it just makes it less easy for them to claim they haven't received the forms.

    From CNM's TandC's

    "Recorded Delivery
We recommend you send all claim paperwork by recorded delivery, as proof of sending is not proof of delivery. Where an item goes missing in the post and you haven't got our valid recorded delivery signature, then the item will be regarded unclaimed".

Although maybe not a "requirement", I think it would be foolish not to follow their recommendation.

hello, I have just ordered a w810i through coolnewmobile on the vodaphone flex 35, 12months contract 12 months free.
I know I must stick to the dates and the correct paper work.
On sending the bills and claim form I would recommend using special delivery.
The reason is, that a recorded letter cannot be "tracked" once it is in the mail system, you can only check to see if it has got a signature at the point of delivery, it can still go missing once posted. Also the insurance level of recorded is £32, where as SD is £500.
    SD charge is £4.10*5 claims=£20.50 / 12 months = £1.71 per month
for me this is a no brainer, since if the first claim gets lost your £420 out of pocket.
I will keep refering back to this thread for help and advice,
many thanks to all the posters, it is a big help to the "cashback virgin"
    cheers steve b

Indeed - there is no requirement to use recorded delivery. Not quite sure why you're quoting me, as I wasn't the one saying I didn't use it.

My argument for not using it, though, has been undermined rather by CNM taking a week to acknowledge receipt of my latest cashback claim. That leaves less room for manoeuvre if you have to send again. I did in fact go to RM's site to check receipt. Well worth the 60p or so (send second class - it got there next day anyway).
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Special Delivery insurance can be(as you say) upto £500.......but thats providing there is £500 worth of gear inthe parcel......Insurance for consequential loss is not included in this £4.10p........this is extra.

Consequential loss being the loss you suffer as a result of your letter not getting there.

Recorded delivery has proved it is acceptable, as, in cases where CNM have lost the letter, they have asked for RM proof, and in cases where RM have lost it, you have the Proof of Posting stubb.

IMHO, theres no need to go to the added expense of something that isnt required, as I stated above, Recorded delivery is requested in CNM's TandC's.

Addendum..........Just looked ...its £1.25 extra(on SD price) for a minimum £1000 Consequential loss.

I do agree that Recorded Delivery should be sufficient. You will have proof of posting and are fulfilling CNM Terms and Conditions. The worst that could happen is you would have to get another copy of the bill if it goes astray.

CNM could not refuse to honour their part of the contract, if they did the Small Claims Court would be the answer and CNM would lose. They would not push it that far IMO.

It sems to be a mixed bag of experiences for everyone using cool new mobile so here's mine, negative so far.I connected on 4th august and sent in bills on 16th january, (the day I received my bill), as the december bill showed me only connected for 118 days and not the 120 days stated on cashback form.Today I got the "your claim has been rejected" letter saying I was a month late submitting and all future cashback is disqualified.I added the days correctly ,I followed the exact instructions and I'm not a happy bunny! So stinker letter has been sent, Trading standards will be contacted if this isn't resolved and if all else fails I will continue to claim back as per cashback forms and take them to small claims at the end of the contract.Hell hath no fury and all that.

did some simple addition and got that from august 4th to december 16th is 134 days. so the december bill might have been correct

They're getting slower. Still waiting for 3rd cashback (of 5) which they received on 24 Jan. Had acknowledgement email 29 Jan and 'will be sent in next few days' email 16 Feb.

Phoned today and told cheques going out next week. Asked why the delay and was told "there's no delay". Hmm - funny how we have to stick to the letter of the agreement or lose everything, and they can take as long as they like.

I've just received my 1st cashback cheque and they have forgotten to sign it!

I hope they aren't starting to use one of the oldest tricks in the book to delay having to pay!

Anyway, I have sent them an e-mail with a scanned image of the offending cheque so we'll see how long it takes them to reply and send a replacement (but I don't hold out hope it'll be a swift resolution!)

My cashback was due in early feb-07 but still haven't received it. every time I rang to cashback number, she said it has been processed and passed on to the accounts department to raise the cheque. Then anohter excuse it will be due after 28 days (28 working days). That deadline has already passed. Now when I ring, I hear the message all our advisers are busy dealing with other customers, please dial later.

I have already received 3 cashbacks, it's the fourth one which got stuck, I am not sure about fifth one!
