I concur - mobile phones are notorious magnets for fraud so the networks will demand a lot of information to verify identity. As for the date of birth, you can't have a credit card unless you're over 18 so it won't be for that.

I have had a new mobile for the last 4 years and I've never been asked those questions.

Some of them are often used for credit checks but that is exactly why I'm worried about giving them to some dodgy company. The details can be used to obtain credit in my name.

If it was Vodafone asking the questions I would feel more secure.

I expect you'd be happier buying goods with a credit card in TK Maxx than some small retailer, also... ;)

I'm fairly sure the networks require answers to those sorts of questions for a credit check and to connect you - certainly, every website selling contract phones requires this sort of information, it's certainly not "nothing to do with them". If you've had a contract with the same company for 4 years it's possible that they weren't so careful 4 years ago, and later than that credit checks aren't usually required on existing customers who have paid bills on time.
  • I am also waiting for my 4th cheque £72.00

First 3 were paid withour problems, but, they did take their time in sending out the cheques.

    My 4th claim was sent 29 Jan, I rec'd e-mail confirmation 8 Feb.

Waited until 6 March & rang through to the claims no. who advised that my claim was valid but that due to enormous backlog, they were taking upto 28 days to send cheques out, and that mine was on it's way.

Now 28 March, still no cheque & I'm just about to send my 5th & last claim to them.

I was going to sign up to a new contract with them, providing that all claims were met, however, if they are going to start being silly over last 2 claims then I shall go elsewhere.

I will wait another week before contacting them again & will post the response here.

    Yeah :j

Cheque finally arrived this morning - a little over 2 months!

Hi, my first claim date will be coming up soon and for the sake of my sanity, could someone please double-check these dates for me?

    Phone dispatched email: 29/12/06
    Phone received (connection date?): 30/12/06
    First bill dated: 02/01/07
    120 days: 28/04/07

So i'm guessing I should send off my bill dated 02/05/07? (5th bill)

A slight confusion, my first bill from 3 came a few days after I was connected as 3 said the first bill comes in the first 7 days to cover a month's line rental upfront so you have instant use of your phone and then the 2nd bill comes about 30 days after connection. So technically if every bill is a month ahead, does my april bill (4th bill) actually cover my 120 days?

Also, as I ported my number, their T&Cs ask for a copy of your first bill that shows the original number. So it is ok to send a copy right and not the original?

Some people have been mentioning cover letters, what exactly have people been putting on their cover letters?

And I presume this is still the correct claim form to be sending? https://www.mobilemediasystems.co.uk/201cashbackclaim.pdf

Sorry for the panic, just want to avoid any chance of getting void claims! Thanks a lot xx
  • DO NOT BUY FROM COOL NEW MOBILES OR MOBILE AFFILIATES WEBSITES THEY ARE dodgie companies CHEATERS

I bought the contract mobile via coolnewmobile.co.uk website with 12 month cheque back offer and claimed my 1st cash back after long battle with my online bill and I never ever seen such a company charging customers £10 for posting wrong bill.
I sent my 2nd claim with my on-line bill, they sent me letter dated mar 6th received 9th march stating that they need original bill and also they gave 16th March is the deadline to submit the original bill.
If they are following their terms and conditions why should they accept my 1st claim and there is no comments for that point, they proved that they are dodgie company and made void my future claims.
As per terms and conditions they shouldn't accept my first claim itself.

I questioned them why did you accept my 1st claim with on-line bill? no answer from them , they replied they following their terms and conditions. I request the bill from car phone warehouse and sent the bill on 16th of march, they replied you have not submitted the bill on time so that you claim is void for ever.

I been to trading standard and consumer advice they said it is unfair terms and I am expecting the reply from the dodgie company.

Publics should aware of the following dodgie companies companies

    Hi first post.......

I have been trawling for a deal and the best I can find with full 12-month refund by redemption is with coolnewmobile. This is a 12-month contract and they have this deal with O2 & 3.

    https://www.coolnewmobile.co.uk

Currently I am with 3 and obtained my PAC code today ready for the move. I have been sending my vouchers back to Dial-A-Phone this last year for 1/2 price line rental without any problems, so I would recommend them, but…….

    1,who are "cnm"?
2,has anyone had dealings with them?
3,will they pay back the line rental?

Many thanks look forward to your thoughts or advise...........

You're complaining that they refused to give you cashback because you broke the T&Cs after they'd not refused to give you cashback when you broke them before. I don't see how you've got a leg to stand on.

    I think its your fifth bill you need to send......... 1st bill 3 days, 2nd bill 34days, 3rd bill 62days, 4th bill 93 days, 5th bill 123 days.........which is May's bill.

I certainly wouldn't risk sending a "copy" of any bills, make a copy for yourself and send the original.......

I dont send any covering letter, but there is at least one good example a couple of pages back.....

The form and address are the ones I use.........but prior to sending, I check the online T and C's to see if anythings changed.

I printed all my claim forms off at the same time, filled in the details, crossed out the relevant bits, printed all my envelopes and marked my calender as to when to send in the bills......So far i havent had a problem...although still waiting for a late payment.

    Hope this helps
