    I have some questions too:

Can I freeze hm quiches? (Im thinking of making some mini ones for work lunches)

How long do hm breadcrumbs last and should I put them in the cupboard, the freezer or the fridge?

    Quiches freeze just fine.

I always make up batches of breadcrumbs and freeze them - but then - I seldom have any bread going stale, so any time I forget to finish off a loaf it goes for my breadcrumb store or for a rare bread pudding :)

  • Morning all :D

Johanne - so sorry to hear about your "incident" - the world has changed so much - total lack of respect for anyone or anything - I would urge you to tell the police and stand up to these bullies.

Got up about 8.00am - and have put 4 chicken breasts in the SC with some chicken stock - not sure what I'm going to do with them yet - but they needed using by today -anyone have any ideas?

WM and TD are both on - I'm going to finish ironing DD's school uniform, then I can claim to be really virtuous and have everything ready for school before half term's even begun - well sort of!! Usually I leave it till the Sunday night before she goes back!!

Because it's half term next week I have managed to get 3 days off :T 1 day DD's going to a friends house, and the other the childminder - 25 quid  for the day - but it's what you have to do to keep your job

Anyway my aunt babysat last night - so we did the ritual whirlwind clean up house before any visitors arrive :rotfl: , so today not much housework to do :T

I might make a date with the TV and tackle my humungous pile of ironing - then again.......

B: Left over egg mayo sarnies (don't ask :o )
    L: Scrambled eggs on toast
D: Dunno yet - something with chicken breasts that are currently cooking in the SC!!

Well I'm off to tidy some drawers.... Byee!
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

  • Johanne, you must have been really frightened,I was scared just reading your story _pale_ .Get OH to stay and start looking for somewhere else NOW girl.Thinking about you :grouphug:

I've just been going through my grocery receipts.I've compared my farmshop bills with Tesco's and discovered that apart from apples everything is more expensive at the farmshop.Quite a lot more expensive actually, even more when you factor in the cost of petrol to drive there.

I've made a list using Tesco online of prices of everything I buy regularly,I do this so that I can price up my baking that I do for school.I've worked out the price per ounce and per pound of all my baking supplies.Sounds really anal :o but it is a useful exercise.Knowing your prices is a powerful tool in keeping your food bills down.

Bit annoyed that Tesco beat the farmshop, but not surprised-hate Tesco but it seems a bit daft to travel further to spend more.I shall still use the farmshop for seasonal treats. They have a much better variety of soft fruit for instance that is locally grown.I also prefer the butcher to Tesco for meat.

    Anyway,quiet sunday chez Thrift.OH has taken ds2 shopping in Brum for his b'day treat-Lego Shop.Me and ds1 +dd here.Bit rainy and miserable.

Lunch-Quesadillas-tortilla sandwiches filled with cheese/ham/beansprouts(home sprouted)and mayo or ketchup, toasted in my fab sandwich maker

Supper-beef stew-made in oven not SC!!!(sc stews too liquidy and flavour not concentrated enough for me-sorry OS heresy I know! :o )

    Catch you later

  • Good morning eveyone
Been up since 6 here, poor hubby is working 13 days without a break.
Hugs to Johanne, we've had things kick off round here sometimes & it's frightening.
Mind you we have a 'Sharon' & I think every road should have one.
Sharon is a neighbour of ours, she's small, slim & afraid of no-one.
Last year, a nieghbour went to work at 7 in the evening, her OH turned up, drunk, forgot she was at work & set fire to her car as he couldn't get a reply from her. Sharon phoned the police & the firebrigade & restrained the drunk till the police arrived!
Another time we were all woken around midnight by a group of noisy men, standing on the corner drinking & shouting. Our Sharon went out, asked them to move on or shut up, they moved on!
I'm still trying to clear up the mess left by my step son, & get the room ready for my next lodger. It's raining here so all the washing is drying on the rads. Am also goint to finish reading the 3rd Harry Potter book, borrowed from my daughter.
    Breakfast was porridge
Lunch will be a Bacon Sarnie
Tonight I'm doing Lamb on a bed of sliced potato & cabbage in my Remolska.

    Morning all.

Graham-S Shouldn't you be in bed? You said you were on your way to bed then carried on posting! You are definitely a MSE addict. I believe there is a support group on this forum somewhere. "Hello my name is *insert name* and I'm a MSE addict."

Johanne A horrible experience, you must have been terrified! You should report it to the police. (((Hugs)))

A quiet day for me. I'm still in my dressing gown, having a lazy morning. DS's football game was canceled due to a waterlogged pitch. Oh well, at least I don't have to stand by the side of a soggy field in the rain! Phoned his dad to let him know and he asked if he can come over this afternoon as DS's gran so I have a kid-free afternoon. I am going to run down to the gym and have a swim there (OH is going too so he will take my stuff down there in his car!) I am supposed to be running the Coniston 14 in April, a very hilly 14-mile race so I desperately need to get some training in! OH is doing the London Marathon in April and his training is going well.

Breakfast was cereals for the kids and toast from HM loaf for grown-ups.
    Lunch - Don't know yet
Dinner - Stewed beef with potatoes and vegetables.

School uniform is washed and dry so needs ironing later. (along with a huge pile of other things).

    Off to get dressed

    Have a good day all!

Aah,Harry Potter,my favourite indulgence is listening to Harry Potter read by Stephen Fry.I'm on the second book at the mo,going through all 6 for about the 10th time. There is nothing I like better than being alone in the house doing some baking or even ironing and Stephen Fry reading to me-bliss.

I also like other audio books.Had quite a few for my 40th in December.Jeremy Irons reading Brideshead Revisited was fantastic.

Sue, I have seen these Remolska thingies in the Lakeland book. Are they any good? What kind of things can you cook in them?
