Afternoon all, or perhaps I should say evening as it's already dark :hello:
johanne, that sounds like a terrifying experience - thank God for great big boyfriends eh (mine is 6'4" and about 20 stone). Me and housemate do have neighbour problems here, but at least our issues are mainly with teenagers (disruption & vandalism) rather than people who are supposed to be responsible adults and good citizens  Still, we did have one incident recently when somebody decided to hammer on the door in the middle of the night - luckily we ignored them and they went away  :grouphug:
Since getting a stone through the porch window we've had CCTV put up at the front of the house so at least we can see who's doing what, and show the police if necessary. Housemate has a friend who installs security systems for a living so he got a good price (he also installed our burglar alarm).
Re pedometers - a couple of years ago the Evening Standard gave away free ones. I'd always thought my lifestyle was quite sedentary and was very surprised when I easily hit the 10,000 steps every day (and then some!) But I suppose I do walk for about an hour a day just as part of my commute - it's 15 mins from here to the station, and another 10-15 from London Bridge station to my office.
I really ought to be getting on with housework but am soooo sleepy...

well done snowy on the nearly 9000 there for the day. I'm happy to post even though mine may be really low, and if catowen is too....
I think no-one would mind if it was just for a bit of friendly encouragement. currently i'm on less than 1500 today, which isn't fair becausei know i burnt off lots of energy scrubbing the kitchen.
I think really, as long as i keep doing a bit better each day, i will be healthier. I've known me to pace up and down the living room to hit the target while watching telly. This worked wonders in the run up to my wedding last year but i've let it slip again.
If anyone minds us doing it - please say.
otherwise - lets start tomorrow. Monday is a great day for a new challenge. :j
Just to add, if anyone didn't have a pedometer and wanted to join in, 15 minutes of walking is supposed to be approximately 2000 steps.
Also, Snowy, perhaps if you thought about it as a weekly challenge of 70,000 you could do a bit less on the college days, and a bit more on the non-college days

I'm sure I read that if you do 10 000 steps, 4 times a week, then you're OK. Funny you should start talking about this as my Walkers one is very unreliable and my mum gave me one she'd bought for my dad ages ago. I did use it last year then it went in the drawer and I hunted it out only last week, but the battery has died so it's been sitting there by my mirror, just waiting. Guess that's the kick up the walk-o-meter I need
However, just finished my beef, yorkies, roasties, roast and steamed veg and gravy followed by sago pud, so I can't moveI also, (in the use-up in Feb. mode) finished off a bottle of port (didn't like the red wine Mr TM opened.)
Need to get boys bathed and in bed now, before I start on the mountain of ironing that seems to wait until Sunday evening to present itselfSee ya later, folks

Evening All,HUGS TO ALL OSERS IN NEED.
I have just cooked my first whole SC chicken!!! Cant believe how well it came out. I scrunched up some balls of foil and put them in the bottom of the SC, put chook on top, sprinkled liberally with salt, added a tiny bit of water and wacked it on high for an hour. After an hour I turned it down to low and let it do its thing for another 7 hours. I have just picked all the meat off the bones, and when I say all I really do mean ALL!!! I cant believe how much meat has come off that bird. I'll never buy chicken breasts again.
House looks like a bombs hit today, I've not done anything for the last 3 days so have mountains of EVERYTHING to catch up on. Ah well, its half term so I can do it tomorrow.
Started potty training yesterday, hes 2.5 and so far its going as expected. More misses than hits IYKWIM! Will persevere.
Right, gotta dash, kids rioting!!! Back later,

hi,
I haven't posted on here for ages, but am going to try and get back into posting as I still read the thread everyday anyway.
Today I got up at about 9 and went to Matalan to get some sunglasses as I keep getting blinded when I drive home from work. I've spent the day baking and tidying up. Have made some chocolate chip cookies, coconut macaroons and butterfly buns.
The boyf has been putting new doorframes and architrave on the doors. He's made a really good job of it too!
I'm just going to have a little look on the boards and then go and have a bath and wash my hair so I'll be ready for work tomorrow.Comping Challenge
