  • i think the way to get kids more active is to give them slower computers.
when i was little (20 yrs ago) we used to try and load a game into the computer - it would take 15 minutes - so we would go and run about / play football then we rushed indoors - it did n't work - reload - another 15 minutes
when the game worked we played for 2 minutes then lost - reload

so for every hour of playing on the computer we were running about outside for 58 minutes

i bet there is a techy out there who remembers the C64

Suzy you have my complete admiration, there is no way I would drive even 20 minutes on a motorway these days :( There isn't a day that goes by when I don't hear about an accident on the one closest to us :(

Soup made, just need to unload the dishwasher to make some space on the worktop for the BM. I've got loads of shelves up to store my equipment but when it comes to worktop space :( I'm trying to talk DH into having the extension extended. We only need to move a wall out by 3 feet but it would give me a much bigger kitchen. We're remortgaging this year anyway so I'm going to see if I can talk him into borrowing a little more and having the extension done. It would put value onto the house too as people keep seeing this lovely big house and tiny galley kitchen.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

    Morning!

Why cant I sleep in on a Sunday!! I woke up at 8.30 and figured id get up as I want to make the most of the one day off I have this week and want to go to the chinese supermarket again as its fun! Ive crumbled with the no shopping thing till I get paid - I have food in, its just that im building up a store cupboard of flavourings etc so I can create a multitude of meals with whatever food I have in. Im going to do some batch cooking today too as im getting used to being able to take my work lunch out of the freezer instead of making something every night and evening meals being quicker to make because ive pre-prepared some of it.

    I have some questions too:

Can I freeze hm quiches? (Im thinking of making some mini ones for work lunches)

How long do hm breadcrumbs last and should I put them in the cupboard, the freezer or the fridge?

I think ill take a nice shower now and get ready for my chinese supermarket jaunt!

One of my earliest memories was playing 'Icarus' with my dad when I was about 4yrs old, and seeing loads of navy blue files on the shelves that taught the programming code to make your own games! Ahhh... those were the days!

And you can have my boyf to train for a couple of weeks if you like?? He is quite sociable but woud keep you busy!

I do, especially flimbo`s quest on the c64. I have never found another game that i enjoyed palying as much as that one, You are right about the time they took to load though, lol

    Morning,

Had a horrible night.. been awake since 3:30am when had a nasty incident with my neighbour :( Was woke up to hammering on my window and door ...thinking it may be OH or OHs lil bro in trouble (i.e. locked out of theirs etc) i answer....to be confronted with this neighbour and a mate (both Youngish rough looking lads) Have never spoke to them before.. he asks do i have jump cables... considering they know i dont have a car...... hmm... i say no sorry and edge to shut the door... but he gets in the way then starts asking all sorts of questions about me and who i live with and do i have a boyfriend.. and edging his way closer.. then asks can he look round my house and other really creepy/scary questions.. all while eyeing me up like i was a piece of meat.. talking about coming in for coffee.. and telling his mate to go back to theirs while he "makes friends" with his neigbour over coffee... anyway i feel really awkward and uneasy.. so after literally pushing him out the way i ring my OH hoping hes awake... he offers to come round but i say no (as i know he has a temper and would kick off ) he then tells me to ring the police then... so i say i will.. but instead ring my mum (for reassurance and to ask her should i ring the police).. next thing theres a knock at the door and a shout through the letterbox.. it was OH... and his kid brother (who are both built like a s***house doors!) theyd come to make sure i was ok and to take me to theirs... so i throw a coat over my pjs and go with them... as we get to the end of the street theres the neighbour by his car... hood up and staring at me really intimidatingly.. had to grab OH and his Bro to stop them going for him... So we walked to maccies (we have a 22hr one) and they got food then we went back to OHs house where ive been till now - havent slept... and feel really uneasy about coming back here. Its really shook me.. wondering why he did what he did and now scared cos i stupidly admitted i lived alone!!!! :( Going up to my mums in a moment when ive finished my cuppa tea to have breakfast as i dont wanna be here... between this and the fact the other house over the road had their 3 front windows smashed with housebricks earlier in the week at 6pm when the kids where in the living room... im starting to think the sooner i move out this area the better!! :(:(

Sorry for rambling... just really shaken and cant help wondering what his motives where and what might happen now :(

Will spend today at my mums doing my washing... and maybe see OH this afternoon to go through his financial paperwork as he only told me this week hes got debt collection agencies after him :( And as hes useless at finances im gonna help him.

Not very OS today though i think...

Breakfast: full english at my mums!! (a treat)
    Lunch: Dunno
Tea: Possibly roast chicken, carrot + parsnip + swede, roast potatoes

    have nice day everyone.. xxx

hope you are feeling a little better now - bet you where terrified - can you not talk to the police this morning maybe a community officer if you have one - does the cretin who knocked on your door have a partner that you could have a word with. I would defo look for somewhere else....just for my piece of mind if for anything else.

Hugs to all who need them esp those not feeling well

    Special hug to Graham_S -

I love Sunday mornings when no one else is up...usually when we have the kids staying they are up about 930 - 1130 and as by body doesn't do long lies (unless I am really really tired) then I love that couple of hours reading the papers, listening to the papers etc. This morning I am waiting for OH to come home from N/shift - should in home in an hour.

Nothing much to do here today - WM is waiting for OH clothes. DW will be emptied in a moment, kitchen to be straightened.

The is footie on today - big game here and OH nerves will be on hyper mode when he comes in (always been the same for the Old firm games) so will not get any sense out of him  NO doubt there will me more on afterwards.

B/L - scrambled egg and bacon
D -freezer surpise - not sure as I am running freezer down for big defrost and major cook next week

    Take care all

    have a lovely day

  • thats a horrible thing to happen johanne.
i am glad you have got people you can call on who are near by to help - always ask for help if you need it

My gran was conned and robbed only 50 pounds or so - she is 90 - she was knocked to the floor - if i met the scum bag who knocked my gran down he would be sorry - i have been learning ju jitsu for 6 years now - only one of us would walk away

Whatever you do - don't feel silly or scared for asking for help.

    Cheers
