Rateable Value Figure
I know the rateable value issue is well discussed and I understand the concept but if I can just ask a simple question please. On my water bill the figure given for my rateable value is 81. Can someone give me an idea of what that figure stands for in real money ie what was the actual rateable value of my house in pounds?…

4 bedroom detached house - Severn Trent Water
Have been living in a rented property for a few months now but never actually investigated the water bill price until now. At which point I almost cried! Some values pulled off my bill - The rateable value of your property is £308.00 - Water supply £352.07 - Used Water and Surface Water Drainage £360.38 - Total amount…

What is your rateable value?
I'm renting a one bedroom house in West London and the rateable value is £380 which means the annual water bill is going to be about £550 for the year. This seems ridiculously high, can anyone let me know what their rateable value is for a similar sized property or location?

Moved house, water bill now doubled
I used to pay £30/month for water and sewage when I lived in Cheltenham. Now I am paying £67/month for the same to Anglian Water who supply my new home. The houses are both around the same size, 3 bedroom with 2 adults and 2 children occupants. Water consumption is exactly the same. This seems far too high. According to a…

Where to go now, 5 years of sewage flooding.
Hi, Just needed thoughts and advice about where I stand. Have been offered £400 "Good Will Gesture" from my water supplier and been advised by the customer rep that it's a great deal , that had to get approved from the very top :O, and I should accept it as I am likely to fail if I try going down the compensation route.…

Rateable value or meter?
I am moving house in few weeks and the house I am buying is a 5 bed house and has no water meter. The rateable value for water in that house is over £1200 per year (Severn trent water). We are two adults and 3 children and in our current 4 bed house we have a water meter and the bill comes to around £30 per month roughly.…

Fitting a water meter to a listed building
I'm living in a grade 2 listed building, built in about 1550, and significantly extended in about 1850. I'm unsure of where water enters the house, to be honest I feel like there may be separate supplies on both sections. I am currently on what seems like quite a high RV for a 2 bed house, and given that there are only 2…

Do I get 2 bills on a water meter?
I was with Southern Water (waste) and Portsmouth Water (supply) and just changed to a water meter int he last couple of weeks. I've had a bill from Portsmouth Water for £38.11 payable over 8 months direct debit. But I've not had a thing from Southern Water. For those on a water meter, do you pay 1 bill or 2? I also need to…

Tenancy agreement question
Hi guys Bit of a funny one but here goes.. My girlfriend is going to be handing in her notice on her rented house in the near future so we've just been looking over her tenancy agreement. meter testing
Hi, Ever since Yorkshire Water fitted a new Automatic Meter our bills have increased by about 30%. Our usage has not changed , and there are no leaks. I suspect the new meter may be at fault, YW say "our meters are never wrong" !!!! Our only hope is to have it sent away for checking at a cost to us of over £80. Has anyone…

Recommendations for a water utility solicitor?
Hi Anyone here who has benefitted from and actually used a water utility solicitor? Seems that the closest water main is 150m away via tarmac and I was quoted 20k+ to install which obviously is a crazy expense. Would like to hear about solicitors who found a way out of the situation. Thanks

Anglian water customer relations - update
ANGLIAN WATER CUSTOMER RELATIONS - UPDATE I attach copies of my posts made in July 2012 and July 2013. At last there is the possibility of customers being able to switch suppliers. Although full competition is unlikely before 2020 I suspect that the 'highhandedness' shown by Anglian Water may well change their attitude…

Rateable value -
I have just received my water bill from United Utilities for the period April 2016 to March 2017. I am on water rates, and wondered how what I am paying per month compares to other people on water rates. The total for the year is £271.76, and the bill mentions my rateable value of £83.00 per year.# Are these figures low or…

Meter request with Thames Water - not a success
Just in case this might be of interest to others (or if any here have additional tips). I'm the sole occupier in a small Victorian terrace, which has nonetheless 3 bedrooms. So I figured I'd be a good candidate to save money on a meter. I currently pay £255 based on the rateable value of my house, and the consumer council…
