**Anglian Business Water**
Beware of Anglian Business Water! After we received a letter earlier this year advising our water provider would be changing from Anglian Water to Anglian Water Business, we were not overly concerned and welcomed the move for some competition in this sector (or so we thought). When we received the first bill, we duly paid…

Shower buying advice
Not sure this is the right place to post but couldn't find anywhere more suitable! I've just moved into a new house and unfortunately the flow of water coming from the shower head is really poor. I have a regular boiler system installed (cold water tank in attic, cylinder on first floor next to the bathroom) with a mixer…

what Anglian water tariff?
I'm in need of a little advice, I'm trying to help a family member with their money as they haven't changed suppliers in years to find a cheaper deal. At the moment they are on a standard tariff but after having looked on the Anglian water website I noticed they were entitled to the water sure tariff. Which I thought was…

Got a big water Bill? Beat this.
I am posting my NWG story to help me come to terms with it myself. Last October I bought a house which has been empty for 11 years. On the land is a derelict garage/workshop which has been unused for about 25 years. I immediately informed Northumbrian Water (now NWG) of my purchase. In February this year my wife and I…

The hell of dealing with Thames Water
I'm being hounded by Thames Water for a bill of £220 which I don't owe them, and which one part of the company knows I don't owe them - but today I received the final demand and am being threatened with court action and bailiffs. I owned a house which was rented out - tenant moved out in March and I was there all that day.…

standing charge
Phoned up United Utilities to find out if an internal water meter (external can't be fitted) would save me more money than the single person discount I am currently on. Apparently, there is a standing charge of ca 130 GBP per year even if you do not use any water. This seems very high. Does it seem right?

Average water rate
Hello i'm new to the forum and just wondered what the average water usage/bill might be for a 2 bed property with 2 adults. Ever since having a meter installed my bill has increased from around the £25 per month to up to £58 per month. It's now down to £23 per month but only due credit carried over from my previous bill.…

Severn Trent's Hippo
As we had a meter fitted today, I requested a free Hippo water saving bag. However, we have Twyford's early 1990s cistern which is smaller than older ones, but not as small as the newer dual flush ones. The older bags, allowed you to fill them with water of any volume ,but the Hippo version seems rather large compared to…

Shower regular + Aerating shower head
I've just ordered some free water saving products from my supplier including a ShowerSave shower regulator that is supposed to reduce the flow to 8l/min (down from the standard 15l/min). Can anyone tell me if it is also worth purchasing an aerating shower head as well, or whether the regulator simply does the same job?…

Is there anything I can do if my water company has changed the water?
Some background; I get my water through United Utilities, who were recently found guilty of providing unsafe drinking water to 700000 people, thus I've got very little trust in this company anyway. They recently dug a pipeline that cost millions, on the request of the environmental agency to protect fresh water muscles or…

Water meter installed in HMO
Hi, I've recently moved into a new student house, where 8 of us will be living for this academic year. When we looked into estimates of tariffs with a meter installed, it was very uneconomic compared to paying a flat rate. However, we were notified the other day that our landlord is installing a meter. I am just wondering…

Not Paying Business Water Charge
I’ve got a small online business and I have some office space in a building with 20 other offices in it. I recently got a bill through from “business stream” wanting something link £100 for water charges for the year (I’m in Scotland). I’ve been told 10% of water bills never get paid so I’m tempted to not pay it. Half the…

Dividabill old debt- Southern Water chasing student
Hi all, my daughter is being chased by debt collectors re an old debt to Southern Water for a previous property she rented with 5 other students. They had been using 'Dividabill' to pay the utility bills but then Dividabill went into liquidation and it seems some of the bills were not paid. She says she knows there was…

So confused!
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to cause of our problem..... Myself and my partner own an apartment which we rent out. Our tenant (who lived by themselves) has just moved out and received a bill for about 4 times what she thinks it should be so we decided to do some investigating. We found that the toilet was…

Consistently high water bills
Hi, I would like some help with the below please. The past few water bills that have covered around an 7.5 month period have each been very high (flat with 2 occupants, one bathroom, no dish washer, no excessive use whatsoever), one was £195 and then the next was £170, so £365 for 4 months between two people, and then the…

Removal of Water Meter
I have just taken over occupancy of a house where the previous occupant had died. The house has a water meter which was installed in July 2015 at the request of the now deceased occupier. I understand that when a water meter is installed there is an option to have it switched back to an unmetered supply within 2 years, so…

Water bill seems too high?
Hi there, Me and my boyfriend have recently moved into our first house where we actually have to pay bills (a tiny 2 bed semi detached) And I have just gotten our first water bill through based on our meter readings and it is a lot higher than I thought it would be. I don't expect we are particularly wasteful but my…

Severn Trent metered water charges
I understand how the costs will be worked out, except for the case of surface water. ST's online brochure says that, if metered, you are charged pro rata (on the 89/90 rateable value) or pay a fixed amount (according to property type) for more recent properties . Following the table of fixed rates for metered properties ,…
