Water meter switching problems
i asked Thames Water to go on a water meter as I live in a 2/3 bedroom flat with garden but live alone. They came to assess & advised me that the water pipe is too close to the wall & I would have to pay to have the pipe moved before they would give me a meter. Should I ask for an assessment or will they just say No? Any…

Rateable value & Council Tax bands
About 8 years ago we had our Victorian house in North London converted into 2 separate flats. Originally the whole house was in Council Tax band G but upon re-evaluation our flat dropped 2 bands down to E. Should our water rates now be lower as well? When I enquired at Thames Water, I was told that the rates are the…

Has anyone successfully haggled their Water Bill? (non Meter)
Has anyone tried to get it down. We are with Essex and Suffolk water for water and waste we are 95% sure that going to a meter won't be a good idea. We tried paying in full £520 for the year but even then they are still not interested in a discount.

Just seeking some advice or to find out if anyone has received something similar. I received a letter from LCS based in Leeds. They want me to pay an outstanding Thames Water invoice for a flat I own. I came close to paying on-line as looked legitimate and they had correctly quoted the time period that the flat was…

Single Occupier
I know you get a 25% for single occupier on council tax, but I wondered if you did on water rates too. I've noticed something on the Brighton & Hove website that indicates this, but I'm in a different area of the country.

Yorkshire Water inflation query
I've just received a letter from Yorkshire Water saying "the average bill will rise by 2.06%... [which] is below the rate of inflation at 2.19%" I can't reconcile this claimed inflation figure with official ONS figures that put the current CPI at 1.8% and the RPI at 2.6%. Can anyone shed any light on this?

We recently contacted our local water board as our water usage was very high. My water meter reading seems very high...what to do?
I moved into a new property 3 months ago - a Victorian terrace. I had a water meter installed on 7 November. Although I own the house I am rarely there and spend 2/3 nights a week there, and I work during the day. The water company estimated my bills to be around £15 p/m. I'd say I take around 2 showers a week there, 2…
