Blue Dot Appeared On Wall

Coming home this morning, I noticed a blue dot (about 2" diameter) had been painted on our front garden wall.

I'm wondering if this is some sort of marker for the water utility contractors? We have a water meter a couple of feet from the 'dot'.

Just curious really - wondered if anybody knew the answer?

Could well be. We're having a lot of work done on the water mains in our area and the pavements and roads have had a lot of blue paint applied.

I've just noticed this in another thread
look for blue spray paint, used by the water company to help their meter readers and engineers spot where the meter is with minimal fuss.

Jobs for the boys - someone to find the meter and mark where it is and another someone to come along, see where the mark has been applied then find the meter and read it.
