Counting National Insurance Years
I’ve had a quick look through posts to ensure this hasn’t been covered before but apologies if it has. I’ve recently taken voluntary early retirement aged 56 and taken my reduced final salary pension. As of now I have 40 years full national insurance years and the HMRC forecast tells me I have enough years. So, all is good…

Confused about the extra Pensions contributions
Hello, I went online to see if I could contribute to make up missed pension years (was living overseas). I have about 6 half/full years missed and I'd have quite a large amount to pay by July to make up for it. I'll 45 and fully expect to be working at least another 15 years (it says another 22 years) so should I not worry…

Years of Full National Insurance Contributions - 36
According to Gov.uk they have confirmed that I have 36 years of full NI contributions but have also confirmed that I am forecast to receive "only" £163 per week when I am 66 (in a year's time) I was under the impression that 35 + years should qualify me for the full £203 per week. I know such calculations can get…

National Insurance Credits under 12
Does 'under 12' mean you can only claim until the child's 12th birthday? Our youngest turns 13 end of this month, so would we be able to claim credits for the last tax year? Thanks.

State Pension - NI Top up
Can you please explain what happens if I top up my NI contributions for years that are not full please? If I am already in receipt of state pension, and have spare monies to enable me to increase my weekly pension, then once the additional payment is made is the pension payment backdated to when I first took my pension? I…

pension forecast
I understand that there are 2 different schemes for N.I contributions but I'm still slightly confused and hoping someone can help please. I currently have 38 full years, it says I require another 8 years. However my pension forecast currently put me short of a full pension by £2.74 a week. I'm planning on topping up my NI…

Is the Future Pensions Centre open today
I have managed to get through to 'hold' after countless times trying. I have now been on hold for 2 hours, and am wondering if as it is 6 April they are off on early Easter holidays? There is no way of finding out when their holiday dates are, and I wonder if anyone has been able to get through to them today, or knows…

Confused! NI Contributions
I looked up my state pension forecast on the Gov website and it states I'll be entitled to £185.15 from 11/03/2035. However, I've checked my NI Record and although I have 38 years of full contributions, it tells me that 2021-2022 is not full (I stopped working in Dec 2020) and I should make up the shortfall by paying…

Are missing NI Pension contributions worth it?
Hi, after checking my wife's pension forecast she will get £162.49/ week which can be increased to £185.15 by payment of outstanding NI contributions as she retired early. Based on the Gov.UK pensions website forecast it advises a payment of £5968 would be required for the 8 missing years. Ignoring the triple lock increase…

Unable to Contact Future Pension Centre
Has anyone else had problems getting in contact with the Future Pension Centre? I've tried calling them 2 or 3 times a day for the last 3 days, staying queued for an average of 20 mins each time before giving up. Would I be better contacting them via their online contact form? I simply want to check that my plan to plug…

State pension NI contributions
I semi-retired at 60 years old on my teachers' pension, but have continued a little bit of consultant work and pay tax via self-assessment. I made 41 years of full National Insurance contributions and can get my state pension at 66. However, the estimate on pension checker is saying I will get £163.30 a week unless I pay…

NI Voluntary Contributions deadline extended to 31 July 2023
I see the deadline has been extended but when I check my record online it still says I must pay by 5th April. Which is right? And if I pay after April 2023 will the amount owing be increased over the £824 I am currently being quoted per full year? The note against each year says it *might*.

Missed NI Contributions for Pension when Self-Employed
Like many people, I am looking at paying missed NI Payments before the deadline, to increase my Pension. The thing is that the missing years relate to while I was Self-employed. The Class 2 NI payments were only around £2-50 per week . . . yet the Statement I have received says I would have to pay £15-85 per week for the…
