NI Record - Part Years but which part

Options
Records show I have a couple of part year contributions.  I would be interested in topping up these years but how do I find out if part is 1 month, 11 months etc?
Online DWP records do not provide this detail.
I see that I can request a statement from HMRC for specified years - does this provide the detail?

If the years are before 2006/07 it is too late to do anything.  If they are 2006/07 to 2015/16 then they may , or may not, improve your pension and if they are 2016/17, or later, they will increase your pension up to the maximum.

You need to get your NI record and a pension forecast from GOV UK to work out where you stand and speak with DWP Future Pension Centre to check that filling the relevant years will improve your pension

If you get your online state pension forecast, click on the 'view your national insurance record' link within it and then click on the 'view details' link against any individual year it should show you how many weeks contributions you have made that year and by what method (voluntary, paid employment, credits etc)
Check your State Pension forecast - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

However it's not so much the number of weeks filled or empty you need to but rather how much needs to be paid to make the year full.

As pinkks says, you really need to speak to the Future Pension Centre to confirm which years will increase your state pension, as not all are still available to buy and some of those that are may not result in an increase
